my AC compressor cratered in my 07 Tacoma. I replaced the compressor and
condensor and blew out the lines, but not sure if I need to replace the
expansion valve as well. Do you know if this is required?

atroise says:

Hi Thanks for the video, can I use engine oil for to O rings? is it similar
to do with 2004 accord 2.4 I vtec?

Paul B says:

Hi Scotty, I have a 94 Camry SV-10 and access to the evaporator valve seem
a lot more difficult. Do I need to pull the Dash out to get to it. Thanks
in advance. Cheers

ebra williams says:

how do replace expansion valve on 96 Honda accord 2.2 my problem is blows a
little cool ,went to add a little Freon the high pressure side bottoms out
and kicks off the compressor not cooling like it should

Manny Gonzalez says:

hi Scotty, the low pressure pipe in my civic 08 is freezing up, and im
still getting cold air but after some time the air stops flowing, any
idea??

Alejandro Marrero says:

Would the expansion valve on my 04 sentra be located in the same place?

dee bytheway says:

I have a 05 jeep grand Cherokee v8 the a/c blows but it doesn’t blow cold
and the heat works fine what’s my problem

bigbob1122 says:

Thanks for the video. On my 05 Mercury Montego I’m getting a low side
pressure of 85-90psi and a high side pressure of 120 at idle with no cold
air. The compressor also makes a sort of rattling noise at idle and the
needle on the low side is shaky. If I rev it up to 2000RPM the noise stops
and I get a low side pressure of 55psi and a high side pressure of 165psi
with cold air from the vents. What would cause that?

Kurt Langeberg says:

So my low side is reading over 200 and its about 82 degrees out right now.
Would that indicate an expansion valve problem? I’m not sure what the high
side is as I don’t have the whole guage setup.

Andrew Diaz says:

Scott can you tell me where it is on a 1993 Mazda Protege DX?

Eddie Belcastro says:

Scotty. I disconnected the lines under the hood to my 91 accord evaporator
and it didn’t blow through. Should i change the evaporator and expansion
valve. I assume i should also replace the original drier, Thanks

Alexandra Toro says:

Scotty where is the expansion valve on a 1999 mitsubishi galant?

Cynthia Ivy says:

Scotty does a 1992 Nissan Stanza have an expansion valve and where is it
located?

Ragarianok says:

Scotty, do you know the location of the expansion valve on a 1998 Nissan
Quest?

Da ReALnEsS says:

Will replacing this valve also remove a whooping whistle noise coming from
the ac?

Noneya Concern says:

Scotty, I have a 1998 Chevy Venture. After evacuating and vacuuming the
system then charging, the AC low side pressure is 85 but zero on high side.
The compressor won’t engage. From what I can find researching, there is an
orifice tube on front and an expansion valve on the rear evaporator. With
the pressure not equalizing, is the orifice tube the likely culprit? Can
you tell me where I can locate the orifice tube on the Venture? Thanks is
advance- you are providing a great service to the home mechanic!

MasterPhil175 says:

Hello Scotty. Do you know where I can find the expansion valve on a 2003
Toyota Corolla LE?

Reese ErchGuy says:

On my ’94 4Runner I could not get the aluminum tube ends to go into the new
expansion valve with the O-rings that were supplied, and get everything to
stay straight enough to get the Allen bolts started. I tried using a large
vise-grip type clamp with smooth flat teeth, but I still couldn’t get
things to go together properly. It seemed that the smallest O-ring is of
two thick a “gauge” to fit into the suspension valve cavity when it is on
the part of the hard-line that sticks farthest into the expansion valve. So
then I thought maybe the O-rings are supposed to fit around the thicker
part of the lines. I tried rolling the O-rings up onto the wider parts of
the tubes, right up against the brown plastic mounting block. But then when
I cranked down on the Allen bolts, the mounting block cracked! The Allen
bolts pulled the center of the mounting block all the way flush with the
expansion valve, but the outer parts were kept separated by the O-rings,
causing the tension that cracked the mounting block. So I must’ve had the
O-rings in the right place to begin with. Why is this so difficult? Now I
have to go to a junkyard and try to find a new mounting block, or get it
from the Toyota dealer. But it’s probably either discontinued or crazy
expensive because it will come with a few inches worth of aluminum lines
that go through the firewall, with the big hex nut fittings.

dozieram says:

Nice “how to”. I have a 99 Civic. AC blows cold when under 60 mph. I
believe it is due to RPM as it is an auto. Once I go up to a certain rpm
the air blows hot. I can idle all day and its ice cold. Plenty of
refrigerant in it currently. Think the expansion valve is the issue? Thanks
in advance!

Scoty wat about my pacifica 2004 wat the suv do is the ac turn on just in

my 2002 Mitsubishi lancer is making a clunking noise every time the
compressor cycles off in addition my rmps go to 1900 when the compressor
comes back on and when the compressor goes back off again it makes a loud
clunk again what could this be. This only happens when the car is on park
or on drive on a stop, when the car is moving ac runs perfect and no noise.
during clunk noise ac does seem warmer. please help.

Scotty my 1996 Lexus es300 has no pressure on the low side but my high
side is good would it be the expansion valve I replaced the
compressed and condenser. Also how can u tell if ur evaporator is clogged
thanks

Ken Clark says:

I have a 1996 acura tl that blows but doesn’t blow snow cold , and it revs
up and down up and down from 2000 rpm to one then back

Tiffany Clymer says:

I have a 2008 VW Passat and my ac blows cold for about 5 minutes then
starts blowing warm air. Tried to refill coolant same thing happened. What
could this be?

Marc McCann says:

Great video’s. I have a 05 Honda Odyssey. Replaced compressor and was
told by shop I should replace expansion valve w/capillary tube on the
evaporator. I cant seem to see a way to get the blower motor “out of the
way” without cutting the glove box holder dash piece. The metal bracket
should be enough in the end but it seems poor design. Thoughts?

Mustafa Fathi says:

thanks a lot, where do you find the expansion valve in acura tl 2004

Paul B says:

Thanks Scotty, I finally got it with the dash still in and it was a bugger,
so installing is going to interesting!! Thanks for the quick reply. Cheers
Paul

Scotty, I have a 2000 Honda Accord. I just changed the compressor but it is
still not blowing cold air. A mechanic said
it’s the expansion valve has to change. Where is the expansion valve
located on this car? And once I change it myself can I take to a mechanic
to vacuum the lines and put Freon into the system?

ebra williams says:

I don’t think the compressor bad it seems to be working ok not making
any odd noise just don’t know about the dyer think it just could be the
expansion valve

Jacob Scott says:

pulling back and forth help thanks Bryan

dmana3172 says:

I just took the entire dash out of the van and the HVAC housing to replace
the evaporator. It leaked through the valve inside and had to be replace.
The job is much bigger than I though. Anyway, I have a question… Do I
need to replace the Ring around the evaporator and condensor behind the
hood after I pulled the housing out and do I need to replace the heater
core ring and temperature sensor on evaporator as well? Please let me know
soon. Thanks. :-)

bryan kimmell says:

Question Scotty I have a 1996 lexus es300 and when I come to a stop and I
