Removing military Hummer runflats

Removing military Hummer runflats

Most people have never seen or even heard of this. Thought I would make a quick video showing how it’s done. I used 2 straps, 3 D rings (some people call the…

TheFDC500 says:

I have no idea why i clicked this i dont even own a hummer

Jason Adams says:

If you off-road and drop the tire pressure then you run into the issue of
having these things in there, also for some, I don’t know about this guy
but some do this so they can run different rims, the run flats don’t match
up to all rims so they have to be removed. and some people just don’t want
all that extra weight in each tire putting stress on their axles. You will
probably get a few more answers if you ask other people why.

like poopin out an egg

jchevy33 says:

Thanks for posting this video, i just did mine the same exact way yesterday
and mounted them on my truck today. Good video

Lord Alex says:

I found them used on craigslist, but discount tire, ntb, 4 wheel parts,
most racing shops, or many online wheel shops can get you 16.50 wheels in
your choice of bolt pattern and offset for between $50-$100 each

shitfot says:

Were did you find 5 on 5.5 16.5 and how much did you pay

jchevy33 says:

Yeah best second line ever, im in a park doing this ahaha

TheMisunderstood35 says:

goodyear wranglers are shitty tires for what you pay for them.

anthony bargas says:

have you ever tryed the the regular goodyear wrangler m/t?

Avery Hates says:

Maybe I’m an idiot for asking this, but why wouldn’t you want the runflats
in your tires?

LeoSnow900 says:

Best line ever, “First thing you do, get your tire and strap it to a tree”

edgecrusher53 says:

Im about to get some of these for my k1500 only concern I have is my k1500
has a gm 10 bolt with 4.56 gears and im afraid of breaking my axles I don’t
take it offroad that much its mainly a daily drive but I would like to take
offroad a little bit would you suggest using tires without doing a SAS.
Thanks!

Lord Alex says:

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes

Josh Carmack says:

that type of run flat ring requires a 2 pc wheel to be installed, they will
not stretch over a one pc wheel. 2pc wheels are typically notoriously
dangerous in untrained hands with improper equipment. they are also heavier
more prone to leaking, and require much more work to change as the video
owner will probably state himself.

Lord Alex says:

I don’t believe you

NOTy0urPUPPET says:

that notch on the insert is placed at the bead when you remove them on a
tire machine

EcoWhale says:

I’m not youtube, I’m a person

4x4lou says:

How much did u pay for them new shoes? What state u in ?

Zack Burtner says:

What are they then? Mexican nose picking boots?

Lord Alex says:

$500 for rims, tires, and runflats…I live in Dallas, TX. The tires were
bought at an auction house in Oklahoma City for cheaper, and brought to
Texas by the truckload and resold. This happens about every 6 months. I’m
sure there is a similar auction house near you, or you can buy online and
have them shipped for less than half what you would pay buying in a store.

Chancey Wilczewski says:

BTW those aren’t cowboy boots, you must not be from my state, or you’d know
that.

Chancey Wilczewski says:

My question is why would you want to get rid of the run-flat rings, that
shit is useful to have.

Joe Momma says:

can you make a whole video on just yur truck?

litterbug135 says:

why would you want to get rid of the h1 wheels? those are awesome!!

Lord Alex says:

They are awesome, but they didn’t match my lug pattern, the offset wouldn’t
fit my truck, they take ALL DAY to change 4 tires on them (96 wheel nuts
and 32 lug nuts), and they are VERY heavy

Tu Cullo says:

I’m not sure how I found this video but I was like holy red neck but after
watching it is a great way for others on a budget to take the run flats
out. I’m a former us Ranger and I wouldn’t have thought about doing it this
way lol. Good job sir,

bigtankhk says:

Why not keep the run flat in

andrew lillard says:

Great idea, easy enough. I was afraid that thing would come flying outta
there really fast! But it wasn’t to bad.

c1doger says:

why not just leave the run-flat rings in?

brent bannister says:

Next time do them all at once

bnsf4 says:

Why wouldn’t you just keep the run flat rings in the tire?…. Wouldn’t
that make them more durable?

FordsAreSick11 says:

hmm that sounds like a good deal in nj tires for my truck are 800-1k

bigtankhk says:

Yah you think removing the run flat sucks try putting one in the tire, its
a pain. I had to do it in Iraq. I have a ram to how much did it coast for
the tires if you dont mind me asking.

Sam Corcoran says:

Why take out the run flat?

Lord Alex says:

I got a steal, I payed $500 for the set of wheels and tires, then turned
around and sold the wheels ands runflats for $400…Soooo payed $100 for a
$2,000 set of 4 tires

Zack Burtner says:

2:26 BTW are you really wearing cowboy boots with shorts? God damn you must
be from my state >.>

Lord Alex says:

There are websites like govliquidation out of Oklahoma City that auction
off military surplus, and you can find anything there. As for removing the
runflats, not only do they weigh about 35lbs each, but you can only use
them with the stock 2 piece double beadlock humvee wheels, which are about
60 lbs each and have a chevy 8 lug bolt pattern. If I had recentered the
wheels to match my bolt pattern, I would be adding around 500 lbs to my
truck, and you can imagine the mpg loss.

dirtbird43 says:

Hi there, where did you get these tires, I’ve only seen a select few sites
that offer them online

Lord Alex says:

Its got a 2 inch leveling kit in front and 2″ of lift all the way around. I
like the “stuffed” look of a small lift and huge tires. I had to trim the
plastic fender well covers and beat in the corner of the body panel pinch
seam just a tad to clear the 37″s. I will post a new video of the new tires
mounted soon.
