Pitman and Idler Arm Repair: Hummer H2/Tahoe/Suburban/Silverado/Sierra/Yukon

SHORTCUT LINKS BELOW

Pitman and Idler Arm replacement on a 2003 Hummer H2. This uses the same GMT-800 (1999-2006) platform found in Sierras/Silverados/Yukons/Suburban/ and Tahoes.

Some tricks will be different depending on the specific model and suspension modifications, but the process and work will be similar.

This is a somewhat frustrating task and having an assistant is almost required (as you will see in the video), but it can be accomplished with basic hand tools (wrenches/ratchets), although impacts and air-tools will greatly save time.

You will need a ball joint pulling tool of the style in the video. I didn’t put a part number down, because the jaws on my particular tool had to be ground down to fit over the components. Try to find one with wider jaws.

Good luck! Please post and tips and tricks below, and if you found the video helpful, please show your thanks by subscribing!
