Sounds like a lot of wiring. I’m use to installing units with vehicles that
don’t have OnStart or a steering wheel control. I just got a unit with
DVD/Nav i just got to buy the harness “and” interfaces now. I just gotta
check if the unit gots the 3.5mm remote jack behind it. Shouldnt be that
hard to wire up huh?

Sanchez27bmc says:

I have the pioneer avh x8500bhs and I’m trying to connect the steering
wheel controls to a 2007 Monte Carlo ss .. Besides the 3.5 mm wire is there
anything else I need to connect to my head unit. It’s not syncing up. Can
someone help me?

Ronald Reyes says:

Great!!… do you know where can I buy it?
Am abroad!. Does Amazon sell it?… how do I have to find it on web?

David Goodwin says:

Great vid. Can you consider explaining how to do this same setup, bit with
a head unit that does not have the 3.5mm? The Jensen VX6020 has 3 Leads.
SWC A, SWC B, SWC ground. I know you use the 3.5mm female adapter. There is
no instructions on how to wire the AWSC to the head unit.

nandiito says:

I’m buying ASWC and this same Head unit today! I liked both and by
coincidence this guy has both here, it’s gonna make my install easier

Wow! Car audio @ it’s best. Caraudiofabrication perfectionist. You
definitely have a student here.

Turco949 says:

You are right, I realize it is impossible to make an affordable
vehicle-specific harness but still, considering how much work and time a
buyer still needs to invest in connecting these so-called “vehicle
specific” harnesses, their prices could be lower. My soldering skills was a
bit rusty but you are right, after a little warm up, it came out decent but
for most inexperienced DIYers, I wouldn’t say the process was THAT basic,
especially considering the very basic instructions they provide.

mulvaneybrett says:

You made this look so easy, but in my girlfriends 2006 chevy malibu, i
installed the kenwood ddx319 and the axxcess interface, properly, it
recogonized the radio and when i went to hit the volume button up to make
it programmed forsure, thd volume kept going up… and wouldnt go back
down… im going to reattempt this, but i didnt get the onstar portion
since her car didnt come equipt with it. You did an awesome job though!!

Turco949 says:

Soldering is needed? After spending $40 for the GM with Bosch system
specific harness and $50 for the wheel control adapter, I do not want to
heard that I am still required to do anything but plug stuff in! At this
day and age with all the ridiculously overpriced adapters and harnesses,
you’d think the process would be more basic! Fking shame.

need better lighting in your videos

Nathan Smith says:

Wow mark, been searching for something like this. I have a 03′ buick
lesabre w/ onstar, so this kit will work for my vehicle? thanx mark.

abooandraja says:

hey have a? i have a 2006 pontiac grand prix base no on star but steering
controls. i ordered the pioneer avp h 1400 dvd5.8 with the aswc for my car.
my ? is when you installed that stereo did you have to run the radio 12v to
a fuse to make it turn on and save memory? i have a scosche wire kit for it
but i have herd you need to find a 12v power any help would be awsome
thanks!!

CarAudioFabrication says:

Thanks man!

CarAudioFabrication says:

Thanks!

T Byrd says:

how did you bypass the monsoon amp.

robert griffin says:

Great job with your videos. Can you one day show how to put a tablet in a
factory radio place. thanks

CarAudioFabrication says:

Consider the fact that every car has a different harness. No company could
afford to have a device that comes prewired ready to plug into every
imaginable car. Too many options out there. We are lucky they are able to
keep costs down by having all the programming for all the different head
units and all the different vehicles in one unit! IMO the process is Basic,
if you don’t want to solder get crimp connectors, but don’t be sad when
they fail.

Chopper556er says:

Nice vid. I have a question. I have a 2012 Malibu with the regular 6
speaker setup…i got a double din pioneer dvd deck installed at a shop and
they used the same onstar interface you have,so i boughf the swc also and
tryed to install it myself since i figured it was plug and play.well
there’s no led light indicator coming on,and the sterring wheel control
works but it only skips tracks up on all buttons and just mute works, no
volume or track down…was my onstar devicd installed wrong?thx.

r6ussian says:
