Hi Scotty, after a timing belt change (2 belts, tensioners, water pump,
etc.), at a pro mechanic, I drive off. 20 minutes later I park and the car
leaks out a litre and a half of water from the water tank. I refill the
water to max, drive off again and keep my eyes on the water temperature
gauge. Reaches about boiling point but never goes over it.
Whenever I stop and look, car hasn’t leaked a drop. This continues for a
couple of days, but today when I get home and park, a bit less than half a
quart of water leaks out.
What might be the problem? The car has just come out of the service.
By the way, if it’s any help, since they replaced the belts, I noticed the
automatic climate control is a bit shifty, doesn’t really work like before,
sometimes cools, other times doesn’t.
Thanks very much!
Scotty, What’s a good price to do a timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and
reset and set the mechanical timing for a 1994 Prelude SI H23A1?
How To Change A Waterpump
Evening scotty, I’ve just replaced the water pump, timing belt and
tensioner for 01 honda civic. When it was time to torque the tensioner with
the torque wrench it just feels like it spins but it doesn’t tighten to 33
foot lbs. Is it possible that the bolt broke the threads and if so, would
it be safe to drive like that. It looks as if the timing belt is pretty
secured even when I rotated the crankshaft a couple of times.
Hi, Scotty, You just put the gasket on but do you need that rubber piece
that come with the gasket or no?
scotty ….when changing the water pump, do you have to set back the timing
In my 1995 Chevy 3500 theshort piece of heater hose that goes from the
intake to the water pump is swolen like a soft ball. What is the problem?
Also the temp gage isn’t working.
I ordered a STANT thermostat for a 93 nissan sentra, it don’t have a air
release valve, should I get one that has a valve or does it matter? Does
it install a specific way? Thanks Scotty! Now to change the PS return
hose, it looks like a PITA!
Hi, Scotty. I have a c320 2001 benz and I was wondering can a worn clay
water pump cause the car to fail smog? I took my car to a technician and
they told me the upper radiator hose was leaking but when I checked myself
and squeeze on the hose it wasn’t leaking at all. And they say it might
cause the car to fail smog but i doubt it. What you think? should I replace
the upper radiator hose or just leave it the way it is? Or should replace
the water pump first?
I have a 2.8 turb diesel Isuzu MU, my water pump is playing up… im going

Hi, Scotty. Can the water pump that is overheating cause the OBD System
Check to fail on the smog test?
My daughter has a 93 Nissan Sentra with a 1.6 and the water pump is
leaking, which is the best way to change it from the top or remove the
wheel? I started it today in my spare time and now trying to figure out
how to get the belts off, since I don’t have a heated garage I decided to
find more info and go back at it tomorrow. Thanks. Scotty!
Would you buy a used car that had its water pump replaced at 50,000 miles?
Is it possible that the engine got damaged due to failing water pump?
I recently replaced my water pump on my 2000 ford Mustang! And at first it
was fine, there where no leaks! But now I have a leak on a metal hose, I
believe its called (coolant bypass hoes) I really don’t know what to do!
Should I by that metal hoes? Is it my water pump?

If the upper radiator hose has a leak of air at the end would it fail smog?
But no coolant coming out tho?
Scotty! Need your help, I have an intermittent no heat problem. I had no
heat in car, long story short I put in new thermostat, garage changed
manifold gaskets($1000), and a new rad cap, now the temp gauge goes normal
and it blows cold air.(sometimes) After I got in back from garage(Midas) I
ran car to remove any air in system but still blows cold air occasionally,
Today I noticed that if I floor it, the air temp gets warmer!! Which leads
me to my question–Is it a faulty water pump? That would explain the
sometimes hot, sometimes cold, gets hotter when revved, right?
I just bought a 2001 pt cruiser limit manual and well i was driving Home it
started to slow down then it cut off completely. Then we gave it a jump and
it started.right back up. It was able to make it to my house sounded kind
of loud though. So two days later i tired to started it back up and it just
made a clicking sound. Thought it was the alternator but when i replaced
the battery the car started right up and still starts up every time, do i
still need to replace the alternator?

Hi, Scotty. I have a benz c320 2001 but some people said not to put silicon
sealant on the gasket and some say yes. What’s the difference? should I or
not put silicon sealant on the benz?
same basic process
giant job, you have to remove the timing belt as it drives the pump
haha i’ts funny
lol I like the way he said hah! when he pull hahahaha
Or bypass the heater core by coupling the inlet and outlet hoses with a
small section of metal pipe and a couple of hose clamps. This can be a good
idea if you don’t want to bother with the work to replace it, especially if
it’s a big job requiring removal of the dashboard just to get to it. Of
course, you’ll no longer have heat from the HVAC system. No heat isn’t a
big deal here in South Florida, but it will be a problem in places where
cold weather is more than a minor matter of discomfort.
