I saw a WTF picture where the belt installed upside down with ribs up.. I think same engine in H3 Hummer

Miguel Hernandez says:

I have the same problem w my 2005 Colorado . Im going to replace it today. Thanks .

kramden says:

I know that audio is usually deceiving….Wish I could understand how a new belt solved that noise problem….Maybe the belt was stretched and the idler/tensioner was flopping around….

Andre Campbell says:

I don't think your work is done yet, I suspect the belt tentioner is failing. Your videos are great, you explain very well.

Jeffrich308 says:

After changing the belt on my truck, the noise went away for almost a month, then returned. I would recommend changing the entire tensioner assembly. Replaced it with one recommended in the Forums and never had problems again.

Ashurii says:

I much prefer my engines to be quiet. Your's sounded like a living creature was inside getting angry at you. LOL Good job, if you can fix a small engine, then you sure as heck can change a serpintene belt! 🙂

ditto1958 says:

I had the six cylinder version in my old Chevy Trailblazer. That was a good engine.

ȘȚɄƑƑɎǾɄ1oo says:

Funny, sounds exactly like my truck when the power steering fluid is low.

zlatko vujevic says:

Sweet sound of strait five engine.

Moto Man says:

I have the same truck but my belt squeaks bad until it warms up

Miguel Pagan Sr says:

Nice job on the belt install, my experience with GM vehicles is that those belts went bad due to glazing on the outer surface. And there was a good amount of it from where I saw it. Just make sure to check your idler pulley and tensioner to be on the safe side those have been known to fail, good luck.

Mower Man says:

Hope you get it sorted. Have a great new year and thanks for the vids.

donyboy73 says:

TENSIONER PULLEYS HAD BEEN REPLACED MONTHS AGO AND THIS NOISE PERSISTED UNTIL I REPLACED THE BELT

Wolfhound says:

did you check all the pulleys to make sure they are not loose and don't have bad bearings dony? tighter belt or not should not have a bad bearing noise like that

Mr Frog says:

My condolences on driving a Chevy. That seems pretty quiet for a finely tuned 6 cly DIESEL. I guess you were tricked into thinking it's a 5 cyl gas by the poor performance.

Chowdy Chopz says:

Sounds like a tension pulley noise I had. It started loud and then quieted down as it ran

James Mullins says:

good video & good tip. thanks

zx8401ztv says:

Well done 😀
I wonder if the new belt is a tiny bit softer that the old, so less slipping and smoother sound, also the tension pulley may have a slightly noisey bearing, it all adds to the noise.

Russell Booth says:

I never knew General Motors made a 5 cylinder engine !!!!

The only noise I've had in my Chevy engine (LS1 V8 engine) is lifter noise, which means it needs a new lifters & I have a used camshaft to fit.

While lifter free additives can work,I may as well replace all of the lifters as one of them collapses ,some damage may have been done to the rollers as they squeak a bit & the engine has done 337,498 kilometres.

It looks like the aluminium smelter may want to talk to me next Tuesday after almost 6 years of me sending them my CV,it's been ridiculous how long its taken them to get back to me & I'm going to find out why, maybe on the 2nd & 3rd of January.

I think their sort of people have something for me which is more than just a job !!!!

Jeffrey Hollifield says:

Hey Don, you mentioned that its a 5 cyl. Is that built by Volvo? Thank you for your channel. Its been a big help to me over the years. Thanks again.

Jon Mall says:

Thanks Don! I have an 04 2.8. It's -30 in alberta! Same noise I'm getting

Pavel Paškevič says:

Nice video. Had the same problem with my Audi A4.

NickAngel89 says:

Hey mate. Check your belt tensioner. That few seconds of footage of it moving violently did not look right. In general, I've always known them to be a lot smoother.

Grab America by the Flaps says:

piece of shit,I was hoping there was a rod sticking out the side of the block.

STEVE JONES says:

has the same engine as the trail blazers and gmc envoys do . n i have this noise as well ima have to change my belt thanks for the tip donny
