The main failure point of any inverter module is usually the The capacitors and the output transistors as they see the most stress.

I have a dealer account with Champion as well. You can call them and easily get the parts that you need in addition there are engineers who actually designed the machine to begin with that can answer specific questions over the phone email etc.

Firman is another brand based in Arizona that I have a dealer account with and they are similarly equipped and reasonably priced for parts. Engineer support is also available.

Now the inverter itself because it's potted in epoxy they do not provide schematics for that part internally but the cost is not prohibitive like a Honda.

Is there any way to hook up a solar converter?

Hey Taryl I totally agree. Excellent diagnostic work.

Bill Malec says:

Honda and most Japanese woods dirt bikes used to be state of the art. Any more KTM, Husqvarna, Beta, Gas Gas, and Sherco have far out done them and that goes back some 23 years now!
Their cars aren't what they used to be also.

It does not matter what you buy. car, truck, chain saw or any other piece of mechanical equipment. Don't rely on a sales person, another owner, or dealer employee. Ask a mechanic that works on these things. With the internet, you can find valuable information.

Excellent show!

My cheapy 3200 watt genny still works…similiar to Champion. The voltage regulator went once, but it was a cheap separate component that was easy to replace and adjust. I think a junk electric leaf blower blew the regulator when it's speed switch went bad. It was a common deflect to that leaf blower. The genny voltage spiked to 156V to begin with, then went to 186V. New reg was easy to set to 125V.

Out of all the good videos he has done, if he thinks champion is better quality than Honda, clearly he has been drinking heavily

I have a Harbor Freight Generator

Cam says:

I won't bother with Honda anymore. Most overrated brand.

Rheingold says:

But then….how old Was this 3kW Honda?

xxMacDaddy84xx says:

I’ve got two Champion generators. One is 2000W inverter and the other an 8000W hybrid. When I bought the 2000W, they were half the price of the Honda; they also have more starting watts than Honda. The thing is lightweight and quiet. The hybrid is open frame and isn’t a true inverter, so it’s a little louder, but it’s puts out a pretty good sine wave. I really like both of mine and haven’t had to do any maintenance. They both come with a fuel shutoff switch so it’s easy to run the gas out. They’ve also got a drain on the float bowl to get any remaining fuel out.
