So … how do I fill my garage with $10,000 worth of tools to work on an
$800 car?
My trans went yesterday. I will be doing this process over the next few
days. Thanks for such an awesome tutorial video.
So, I said the wrong word for my car. It’s hard thinking of things to say
for the video and I don’t have the time to script it and memorize
everything. Thanks for the comments.
very nice you got your own lift at home…..how much did it coast you??
@kuvuakoj – When I got the second mortgage to build the shop I added in
some extra to get some equipment. The hoist was around $2500. It is a
Bend-pak 10,000 lb asymetrical model. It makes it really nice for working
on cars. And it is helpful when creating videos, because I can aim the
camera under better. I did not think of making videos when I got the hoist,
but it works well. Thanks
Last time I worked on a car with a watch on I almost lost my hand… lol
When I was lining the car up with the hoist I did, but it is a mostly flat
and level floor, so doesn’t take much to push a car.
what engine series are u holding in that honda?
Was that an SVT Contour in the background?
I recently replaced my clutch and it turned out good, only when I am
releasing the clutch while its in gear the whole front end shakes a little
until I release fully. what could it be??
Good eye. That was the Contour SVT I had. I have since sold it and fixed up
a Miata. Now I have a 2005 Pontiac GTO. I had the Contour for about 6 years
and did a lot of work to it. It was a lot of fun, but I wanted to get a
rear wheel drive car.
Lol not a hatchback it’s a coupe
uhhhh, you did this the hardest way possible lol, you can do this from the
top of the car.
@IronBuddha80 – Thanks, good luck on your replacement.
un muy buen video, no tendras un video del cambio de clutch de un astra
2003..gracias
i did a clutch replacement on my 97 civic… and now it wont go into
reverse…. i had the correct spec and torque… goes into all gears except
reverse… what could it be and i did bleed the clutch….
What a pity dad couldn’t be making all that noise some other time! Thanks
for the video.
@talleyho12 – Your welcome, it was fun; but a lot of work. That’s why I
have not finish the wrap up video yet.
Alright thanks ill keep in touch. I’m trying to tackle this myself
so could i follow this video on a 95 civic ex or no?
Hopefully you got this fixed by now. Usually this means that the clutch is
not disengaging all the way. The reverse gear does not have synchrosizers
so it is harder to get in gear if the clutch is not fully disengaged.
Nope, those did not interfere with the tranny removal.
I did my 99 ex pretty much same thing
you were going to pay to get it fixed but you have a whole profestional
garage and lift in your back yard
It is a 1.6liter engine, I not positive on the engine name, but a search
says it is probably a D16y8 engine.
all togeather for all the tools, how much would this cost?
I had an accident on my gokart and broke my face against a tree. So part 2
has been delayed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
why does he look alot like joe connelly the graffiti gorilla???? from los
angeles???
What exactly was the clutch problem you were having with that civic before
you replaced the clutch?
Getting ready to replace my clutch on my 97 civic as well. This is a very
well put together video I could use as a guide/reference. Thank you for
your time doing this!
You caught me. Your right I never planned on taking it somewhere. Thanks
for the comment, it was funny, I had completely forgotten about that.
The clutch was slipping and had some weird engagement issues. Changing the
clutch and pressure plate fixed everything.
What about the 1996 honda civic lx would this be similar?
Sorry about that, it was really loud. Thanks for the comments.
My guess would be that the two cars are similar. Most things should be the
same.
I love air tools
Sorry for the delay in reply. I think that shaking is usually from the
pressure plate. Did you buff it like I did at the end of video 3, or you
could take it and have it turned. The local autoparts store turns flywheels
for 12 or 20 bucks.
You had access to a lift and bothered to call around to get estimates? I
assume you always planned on replacing the clutch yourself but called
around for our benefit.
thanks for the video its big help,,, and thank your wife too good gob!!!..
= ]
thank you for making this
@camarocomputer – There does not appear to be more than an inch between the
tranny and the frame rail. That is not enough space to disengage the input
shaft from the clutch/pressure plate. I am not about to remove the engine
for a clutch replacement. That adds so much more complexity to the job. If
you have a different idea please explain.
did he just push the car by one hand????
@TheBugzuki do a search for clutch replacment, i dont think honda is a tag
but its the car in the vid, its a scotty kilmer guy
Thanks for the comment. I thought is covered the silence, but I will leave
it out of future videos I do. Man, I need to do some more. I need some time.
its a coupe. not a hatch.. nice vid thow
check your shift rods. i heard someone bent them when changing clutch. and
it had same symtpom (couldnt put in reverse)
