The noise was a pop noise rather rattling noise I would say. Pop noise comes when I turn right my 2002 Honda Civic. Just thought I would add this info.
I was having the same rattling noise problem for a while. After watching this video I was able to replace the stabilizer link and no more noise. Thank you very much for the video.
the new one should have a place for a wrench the same size, I think 14mm and you can back it up that way while you use a socket to put the new one on.
Another way to get that out instead of using an allen wrench which turned out to be utterly useless for me is to get a pair of vice grips and pop the old one off by squeezing it and breaking it off, then grab the little ball with the vise grips and squeeze it tight, then get the wrench or socket and loosen it and take the nut off,
did it sound like loud clunking noise?
If you don’t have Alan key in place and try to twist the bolt on can you brake the new one ? I just replaced mine and was twisting the bolt on over and over agian , then found out I needed a Alan key to hold it in place . Do you think I fucked it up since I was twisting it on without the Alan key in place

If its making noises going over bumps, more then likely it’d your trailing arm bushings
That will be one of the next DIY vids. Its still going strong with no suspension issues. (knocks on wood)
Your front lower control arm bushing look bad and need to replace.. I would do that too..
no, this noise would only happen when going over bumps.

Thank you big help for me. I did mine a little different though. If you have the factory links installed and you are trashing them, forget about using the hex to take them off. Clamp a vice grip very tight on the bearing side opposite the nut and use a ratchet and socket to get the nut off. I got mine off in 10 min this way. If you are replacing, buy the Moog replacement. You put it on with an open end wrench and a socket. Another huge timesaver lube them right away with a grease gun.

looks like the foward bushing on your lower control arm is also wasted at check the :24 sec mark or the 2:08 min mark or maybe im just my imagination?

Im donig my 2001 civic this weekend and just got my link kit in from ebay. $16 from world suspension for both sides.
WTF is with honda amnd those stupid allen bolts they use. My brake rotors all have them in them too. one set came out easy, so i threw them out, and the other is ceased in, so hopefully I can sit down and drill them out some night!
I got an end link gone on my accord, looks like I’ll be drilling allen bolts again.

Just did it on a 2000 accord,after watching the vid (thanks!) and reading comments I knew what to expect after the first allen stripped I drilled thru the dogbone towards the nut, after that I was able to pull it off exposing the plastic cup that houses the ball joint after prying that off with a screwdriver (popped rite off) I was able to clamp a vise grip on the assy, the rest were cake didn’t even bother with the allen wrench I used aftermarket H.D Moog parts (greasable)

its nearly impossible to have to replace your entire suspension…
go to a different garage… a sway arm link counting the parts price should be a $100 repair MAX….
I had the same rattle on my 2001 civic 4D I payed les schwab tires 400 dollars to replace the piece… Then after they fix the rattle they tell me I gada replace the whole suspension… But ima sell it and get a 2011 mustang v6… Rather then spend a thousand on a six thousand dollar car. 😛
good vid…its never really easy because of corrosion welding everything together.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you had. It was a pain, but in the end it is just a 5-10 minute job without having to struggle getting the old piece off.
That wouldn’t be pretty. Ouch!
I just did this on an 2002 on the rear – it was a major PITA, allen wrench part was stripped, vice grips couldn’t do the trick either – I ended up grinding bolts off – took a while to get it all done
good news is installation takes about 2 minute after you get the old ones off
Prolly should wear shoes, nothing like taking a half inch drive ratchet to a metatarsal
