Also check the operation of the dead man lever, if the engine brake is not
working properly, it may not open the kill circuit. And this will also not
let the coil fire.
HELP ME PLEASE ok so i was trying to get this lawnmower started for a guy
and i took the cap off and it took it off the wires please help i dont want
to get yelled at and have to pay for another one its also a tecumseh though
its a 6.5 hp
You need to check the kill circuit as well, the small wire hooked to the
coil, sometimes if the circuit is closed it will not let the coil fire.
Sometimes that wire will be grounded to the engine
if you do get shocked u know u r getting spark !! he he he he eh
@ClassicTVMan1981X Thanks for the Info!
by oneself??? where are most pull’s now days???
Good video, I look forward to the one on the carburetor rebuild. I have the
same type engine only on an older 1989 Toro.

bolt then held the magneto the other broke off at right in side the magnet
and that wire went over and behind the fly when would you now where I could
fin a me magneto
Thanks for your comment and for watching.
Thats a neat old mower really cool.
New lawnmowers with mandated safety requirements will not have spark
present unless the mechanical safety handle is pulled down to remove the
spark to ground(an intended spark killer) and activate the blade clutch.
Without the safety override, you’ll never get spark.

Thanks for the video. I’m doing some work on my car, but this information
was definitely helpful.
Thank you so much. Your video saves my Troy Bilt lawn mower!!
I enjoy your videos. Great Job! I have the briggs spark tester. However, I
find it challenging to pull the cord and watch for spark at the same time.
Depending on the mower, the tester is often at the front of the mower. Even
if I can get the tester in a position where I can see it, there is often
glare on the plexiglass windows. Any tips or suggestions? Are there other
testers that are easier to see and have a longer lead? Thanks!
@spelunkerd Thank you for watching!
@DerricksonJ Thats coming up. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, for what is obviously a very well considered review.
Very helpful. Nice video production.
How much horse power does that engine have?
Have another person pull the cord while you watch.
Find a dirt cheap “Fool-proof Engine Ignition Spark Tester” on Amazon.com
Thanks!
Many thanks – very informative indeed.
like the videos keep it up
This Tecumseh engine (TVS90 or TVS105) is on an early 1980s Yard-Man 21″
cut lawn mower with what is known as the “Sentinel Blade Brake.”
I’ve a Baja Heat Mini Bike 196cc , the engine is almost the same for the
mowers , I’m trying to figure out how to change spark plugs and how to
clean the carb .. Would be great if u can help
thats a cool tester.. 🙂
