My 98 Honda Civic starter might be defective, if I hit it with hammer and it starts does that mean that’s it??? Or could it be ignition switch???

Why does my starter look different ? It’s a 1998 ex civic . It has 3 connections to the starter . This only looks like it has 2 .

Unfortunately there are other videos for this car model, that show a starter under the motor around the back middle of the area. All that is there is a spool shaped piece of metal and beside that is the alternator. Thank goodness I found this video that showed where this model cars starter ACTUALLY is.
