Thank you for your post. Yes, although the car you referenced is slightly
different from that featured in my video, they replaced your ‘downstream’
O2 sensor which is, as you noted, located on the underside of the vehicle.
The 1996-2000 model has a similar additional O2 sensor as well. Again, I
appreciate your remarks.

Where can I buy the o2 sensors for my 2005 Honda civic? I was told Auto
Zone sells them too short. Please reply! Thanks.

Honda needs help! says:

Yes, there is a secondary H02 sensor on this model civic, if you follow the
manifold down and underneath the front end, it is located in the same
structure, underneath the car. On the D16Y5, D16Y7 engines, it must be
removed with an O2 sensor socket, on the B16A2, D16Y8 engines, you pull out
the grommet around the sensor, the connector is inside the hole, pull it
out and disconnect the O2 sensor. Please, excuse the delayed response,
thank you.

Well I’m glad that on replacing the sensor ‘it works’ as you say but what
-if any was the improvement? Understand it to be in fuel efficiency&
possibly performance. I need to change my own sensor as the yellow engine
light is showing and fuel figures could be better. Yet performance on my 99
Civic 1.6i remains excellent! Thanks for the upload

MrAce6767 says:

Does that civic has a Down stream Oxygen sensor as well

ldge says:

Yours came out a lot more easily than mine did! Even after warming up the
engine, I needed a torque wrench to unscrew mine, and was terrified that
I’d snap the end off. Needless to say, I put plenty of copper grease in the
thread of the replacement.

Very Helpful

vincent gulli says:

what is the name of that tool that you used to get through the wire?

Honda needs help! says:

while not necessarily improving performance, these sensors help make the
blend of O2 & gas etc ‘just right’ for the car and the EPA! I hope to have
video of downstream sensor replacement soon, too, as its good to do both
together! live and learn!

Richie52592 says:

What brand was that 02 sensor?

Honda needs help! says:

Ritchie thank you for asking, I forget exactly, but I purchased it from
AZone, just an aftermarket replacement part.

Honda needs help! says:

The check engine light had come on and when I checked it, the computer said
displayed check engine light code P0420 – Catalyst system efficiency below
threshhold. Thank you for asking!

Jesus Hernandez says:

A p0420 code hm? Did you use a scan tool to verify a lazy o2 sensor by
viewing live engine data? Bc that code can entail many different fixes.
Normally a p0132 code will tell you to replace the upstream (bank 1) o2
sensor as you have done very well! I say this bc i have worked on many
civics and id like to know how you pinpointed the o2 sensor as the cause.
Regardless i give you kudos, right on heck you are smart!

God job girl!

UnRevoked360 says:

Will that sensor be in the same location on a 2 door Honda Civic EX?

Honda needs help! says:

The tool is called an oxygen sensor wrench or oxygen sensor socket wrench,
depending on which type you might prefer. Thank you for watching!!

ppluis03 says:

before you changed this sensor what was the problem with the car
