I dropped the tranny on my 04 civic 5spd to replace input shaft bearing and
just got it installed back in the car today. Started to install the cv
axles back into the tranny and the clip on them looks too lose and blocking
the teeth, didn’t want to bang on it.. I’ll try the axle grease tomorrow,
no way to use the axle as a driving hammer as I removed hub assembly from
the control arm leaving the axle at the hub on to drop the tranny.

Jere Cohan says:

Thanks buddy, I am mechanically inclined but definitely not a regular and
was a little apprehensive about tackling my axle (hand tools only) but
after watching yer video I knew that I had the tools and the talent. Thank
fer the confidence builder and information. Keep it up!

Ken Beck says:

We meet again, Brian………lol.
Nearly 2 years to the day later, I’m replacing this damn CV axle…..again.
Not sure if I got a defective one but def. know that thanks to this video,
I installed it right.
Thanks oh great sensei 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to ya!

miltnewman says:

Great video. Very informative. Love the sound effects.

Chuck Priest says:

Ding the nut? That must be why they put a new nut with the new axle. Is
there any reason why Honda doesn’t like good old cotter pins? I don’t know
if I think that nut design is a good way. I thought Honda was supposed to
be well engineered. Did it just strip the old nut ‘ding’ when you removed
it?

MARTIN AVILES says:

I like your videos..

Oz Media says:

“duct” tape

Oz Media says:

To release the ball joints hammer on the outside of the knuckle (HARD, two
or three times usually gets it),right beside the joint’s pin. Don’t tap on
the end of the ball joint, ever, even lightly, which is useless anyway.

Adam Gonyo says:

Thanks for the video, the tips on the grease (duck tape) and the jiggle to
get the shaft back in we’re key to my success.

Captain Pothead says:

“Ding the nut!”

Kevin Liu says:

Hey, i have an issue, i recently tried to change my axle on my 97 honda
accord automatic, when i pulled the old axle out and compared it to the new
one, it looked to be the same size, so i installed the new one, put the
knuckle back on, but the axle has wayyy to much wiggle room and does not
lock into the transmission, and i missing something? is there a bushing or
something that goes in between the knuckle and the axle??

briansmobile1 says:

Nope. It’s the ball joint boot.

Todd Haley says:

Thanks, Looks like his car needs both replaced based on learning facts I
got from you. I was going to put the whole front end up, but will only do
one side so the fluid does not drain out.

David Ammerlaan says:

cute lady parts. i mean parts lady

briansmobile1 says:

Sounds most likely to be an inboard CV joint (CV axle)

demologik says:

So in my case, would having bad engine mounts cause the axles to fail
prematurely on my 191 Acura Integra?

briansmobile1 says:

Ha ha ha! I’m really not trying to impress anyone. I’m just trying to help
people fix their cars.

ssisnum1 says:

Got cha thanks for the info

Albert Einstein says:

Thx for the video it seems easy nuf im looking to buy a 1987 honda accord
but its left axle has problems was just wondering how hard it was to fix a
axle on a honda

Kevin Cole says:

just got a 91 civic dx and have to replace the cv tomorrow. good video, its
going to be a lot of help.

demologik says:

Seriously dude, Im glad i found your channel. I’ve got a 91 integra that
needs new axles and a 95 civic that needs a new clutch. Also got two Honda
CBR600 F-2 carb’d motorcycles that need their carbs cleaned. So the fact
that I just found your channel with these vids REALLY helps build my
confidence in working on them.

briansmobile1 says:

You bet!

Londell Chaff says:

Brian your videos are awesome. I have a 1995 honda accord, when i
accelerate from speeds 0-50mph my car makes this loud obnoxious popping or
clicking sound, the sound gets really bad when i make right hand turns. it
doesnt really make the sound at high speeds on the freeway. even if i
release the brake lightly and go like 0-5mph it still does that popping
sound. this is very embarrassing when i drive by people or other cars with
their windows down. please please please help me with this issue

Doomzdayxx says:

Brian, why no axle grease on cv nut thread?

briansmobile1 says:

No you don’t. You may spill a little, but that’s OK. I usually only jack up
the side of the car that I’m pulling an axle from so the fluid goes to the
sealed up side and doesn’t spill out as much.

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome!

Gene Peters says:

Really well done. A very effective comunicator.
