In this video I will show you how to replace the outside driver’s door handle on a 1998 – 2002 Honda Accord. After many years of use, the handle may break resulting not being able to open the driver’s door when you pull on the handle. The fix is to replace the door handle, but there are some things you need to know before proceeding to make this repair possible. I will show you all the steps in this video.

currently doing this. that final rod at 5:45 was a pain to remove. ended up breaking the plastic part on the door handle to free it. then removed that soft plastic that's stuck on the rod with pliers.
Just finished doing this job. Video helped a lot. I messed up and installed the lock cylinder before putting on the bracket. Had to remove everything including the clip on the door handle. Follow exactly and you shouldn't have issues.

Good video. You can manually twist the handle and keep the plastic retaining clip in place. You came in clutch at the junkyard.

It was very helpful thank you

Ben J says:

I took the clip out of the new handle and had a hard time trying to put it back in. Now I see I could of just left it and snapped the cylinder in lol. I guess I did it the hard way

Steven Gibbons says:

This helped me a lot. Granted my process was a bit different cause I went to a pick and pull to get a handle. For instance when I was getting the door handle off of the juck car, when I finally got the handle away from the door, I didn't have to pop the pin out (because I wanted it as well). For that final removal step I merely had to unscrew it from the metal arm. When reinstalling I just had to screw it back on, put the handle back in the door, bracket, key cylinder, plugs, door panel, more plugs and done. Having done many door handles before, they never went this smooth. A lot of your techniques will translate over to many other cars. Overall I think this is the best video on the subject I've ever seen.

The inside handle is not broken because I see the plastic hook that holds the rod is still intacked

KangoKid Kidd says:

My driver's door won't open from inside or outside so is it the handle or the lock actuator

KangoKid Kidd says:

How do I know if it's the handle or the lock actuator

Ray Nazari says:

Just wanted to thank you very very very much for the wonderful tutorial video of how to install the outside front driver's side door handle. Very very nicely done Sir. Now I could show my 17 year old son the same video and get busy installing his door handle for his 1999 Honda Accord outside front left door handle. Great video Sir. Thanks again.
