This video is not accurate! Not every Honda depending on it's year, is the lower external hex tensioner bolt excisable, WHY? The high side AC lines runs differently depending on model year, my 2014 AC lines run smack dab in front of that bolt not allowing you to wrench it off so easily as the vid shows! You need an air wrench or some other tool that you do not turn in an arc due to the lack of room or you will bust an AC line! So beware!

I'm at 130,000 figure I will replace the tensioner and belt due to mileage.

Who do you order your Honda parts from?

I have a accord 2014 sport, the noise is coming from the belt or somewhere near it but and than it goes away, when you put your car in sport mode it gets worse, what you think might be the problem ,iam not a mechanic tho lol

my email says:

Great video and very helpful! Is there a way to differentiate the noises to isolate the problem bearing? I am not sure if my noise is from the pretensioner or from the crankshaft bearing pulley?

I'm having the same issue on my 2013 Touring V6. Is part number 31170-5G0-A01 and/or 31170-5G0-A02 correct? When I search around, I see some with groves on the pulley and some without. Both having the same part number(s). Any help would be appreciated.

Thought I had a slight alternator whine, the kind you get right before your battery craps out. But I could still hear it with the radio powered off. Popped the hood and could hear the whine coming from around the alternator. The car has 84K highway miles and garage kept. Took a chance and ordered the tensioner. My old bearing felt good so I was very afraid it was the alternator. Put in the new tensioner and a new belt anyway, and the car is now amazingly quiet! Awesome !!!! Now good for another 84K miles hopefully…..Also you can slide up the coolant plastic tank leaving the hose attacked and move it out of the way for more quick access. THANKS!!!!!

What is that big silver tube with the black padding you have in the beginning

Hey bro, what should the torque spec be?

Fox Hound Games says:

Is this the same process for 2014 civic

SlimNubster says:

Could the belt be damaged after running it with the bad tensioner for a couple months? I'd like to skip replacing the belt. Also, how do you know that the proper tension is reached? Just by eyeballing?

Luis Alvarado says:

Mine was gone with just 25000 miles

Pierre Buret says:

Great video – isn't there a location on the tensioner when you can place a pin to lock the "tension released" mode ? If so you would not have the issue with the wrench getting stuck against the engine mount.

Mike Bunnell says:

Great video! For anyone wondering, this is the same for the 2013-2017 V6 models. Just did mine today.

nico79 says:

William Mize says:

Yu glad he's not a mechanic werking on your car!!!

Ivan Estrada says:

On my video it showed that noise I think it was the same problem

Anthony Chappell says:

Do you happen to have a diagram of how the serpentine belt goes for this car?

Juan Gamez says:

Is that oil residue by the motor mount? Because I have a 16 sport and I am concerned that oil is sipping through a gasket.

Larry Head says:

Thanks for the help, only problem I encountered was putting the 8 mm bolt in prior to putting the replacement in. The bolt kept getting in the way as it wouldnt stay flush . After a few knuckle scrapes I took it back out and removed the bolt. It was easy to put in after placing the tensioner. Small problem from a big help… thank you for showing me what to do and saving me a few bucks….Larry

mindstatebeats says:

Do you know where is the bottom screw is located to remove the alternator?

Stan Tkachenko says:

Does anyone know if there is enough space to remove AC compressor? When I looked at it last night it seemed like radiator fans may be in the way…
