This week we installed the OEM roof rails and crossbars on our 2018 Honda Odyssey. The roof rack system we used were purchased separately and were overall moderately difficult to install with total time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. We will show you how to install this set on this van. We work to bring you tutorials, project plans, and project costs “giving you the tools to do it yourself”. Recapping because it keeps coming up. I was a day or two before moving so I had no tools or accessories available to assist with this project. What I used is what was available after the movers picked up our household goods. Thank you all for the comments in advising others on more efficient and practical ways of completing this project. Your feedback and comments are what makes this DIY community the best and helps people save exponential amounts of money. Thank you for your time and efforts, have a great day!

Anyone know if you can get raised roof rails for a 2020 jeep grand Cherokee? Right now it has the flush rails but i have an existing roof rack that needs raised rails. I just cant find raised roof rails to put on my jeep.

PAWEL GWIZDZ says:

good video. very helpful.
thanks

Brendan Mitchell says:

Great Video.
I bought all the parts and am getting them for the install.
I had two questions. I don't have a torque wrench. Do I absolutely need one and if so can someone recommend a good cheap one that will do the job?
Second question, what's better to cut the trim, jigsaw, hacksaw, or multi isolating tool? I appreciate the help. I'm an auto DIY newbie

Clay Johnson says:

Would you recommend thread locker on any of the bolts?

Drew Flansbaum says:

Thank you. This video made it easy to install. Excellent job

Wes S says:

Why would you use snips when something calls for a saw? Use a hacksaw and you won't have the problem that you absolutely smashed the stripping.

endall39 says:

seriously, Dude, a screw driver against a car's finish? Never, never, never. They sell a super cheap vinyl/plastic pry tool set at frigg'n harbor freight. Please don't tell people to do that. re-shoot with right tools.

DANNY AN says:

Where can I buy this?

Florin D says:

The part linked (08L02-TK8-100) is NOT compatible with 2018 Odyssey, have to return mine. I think 08L02-THR-100 is, but did not verify yet.

PnoyOdyDad81 says:

so the amazon link you provided is not compatible with a 2018. is that a typo? also, for future use, honda e-store is $100 more expensive than other online OEM store. check out hondapartsnow.com, hondapartsnetwork.com or hondapartscheap.com for better prices.

Rangy1 says:

Nice work, trim the nails.

Railen Alpha's Adventures says:

What is the height of the rail and crossbars after installation? Thanks!

Brad says:

For just a couple dollars you can buy trim removal tools. Scaring me with that screwdriver.

Brian Cataldi says:

Are the crossbars adjustable? We bought an Odyssey with this already installed but it won’t work with our old roof carrier…I need to shorten the distance but it appears I cannot due to the fact there are pre determined holes in the side rails…thanks for your help and great video!

Zephyr NW says:

tin snips? Really? Spend $20 for a hacksaw and cut them clean. Jeeze right tool for the right job

Kavitha Madala says:

Thank you for this video. Is it the same specification for 2019 Honda Odyssey?

Saurabh Agarwal says:

Great passion and spirit to make this video ! Very helpful too !

Slow_Blown_ Ek says:

Pretty good install video. Only thing I would add (lol) is to use a rag or clothe of sorts to lay on the car while you use a screw driver to pop cover off in order to protect your brand new paint job. You can buy the trim removal kit at Harbor Freight for 10$ or less. But great job being careful with that screw driver. You’re a brave man my friend lol.

TheTimmySmith says:

What is the distance between the two crossbars? and what is the height from the bar to the roof? I am trying to figure out if my current cargo box will fit. Thanks!

Eric’s Channel says:

Hi, why is the one you listed on amazon link different than the Honda link? Can you tell me which one is the correct model number for 18 odyssey please? Thank you!

Patrick Gerety says:

Great video – thanks! I used a bike tire lever to avoid paint scratch and a jig saw to cut the rails.

Kevin Breton says:

Great video. Just in time too. Installed our roof rack the day after it posted. Thank you.
