Shouldn’t you use dielectric grease when putting in the new wires?
This is a good video, but I think there are some things that are just
wrong. I took on the good parts, but tried to ignore the bad. First, don’t
use a socket if it is worn out and won’t grab the plug. Glue is a bad idea
because it is not conductive and could prevent electrical continuity. Next,
if the plug falls out and breaks, you’ll be repairing your engine at high
cost, the 5.99 for the right socket in good condition is worth it. Next,
why doesn’t he mention anti seize for the plug threads? You need that!
1.50 a tube, worth it! Next, why doesn’t he mention a torque wrench? Most
folks think it is a tool that makes it easier to get something really
tight, no, it measures the exact force you are using to tighten the item.
My Honda plugs are 12 ft-lbs and I use a torque wrench! The next best
method mentions getting it just snug, then the overturn after that (I don’t
know it since I have a torque wrench which is exact), better than just
saying get it tight.
Thank you very much. What year is your Mustang?
yes
If they’re made for your vehicle, you should be able to.
nicely done video!
You can. The spark plug sockets usually have something inside of them that
grips the plug so that it stays with the socket.
The process may be similar to the one shown in the video.
I only buy parts for my Mustang at 1a auto. Buy parts and they show you how
to put them on. You cant go wrong.
Hi I was just wondering can I apply this concept to my 93 corolla? Also it
isnt a v6, more like a 6 cylinder. It’s a little old so im not sure if the
part of this car is different..Any more tips if it is a little different?
Thank you for sharing
does the same apply to a 94 accord??
Would this be the same process for a 4cyc?
Thanxz for the video.. i wanted to ask you a?? I have a 91 acura integra
want to do a tune up and on the spark plug wire does it matter on the
size?? Like say 8mm or 10mm the ones on there say 7mm i think!! If u can
let me no it would really help me out??
how is the spark plug socket different from any other socket? Cant i just
use any socket with an extension that fits?
He rolls up like a douche in his car lol
how do I get my cigarette burner thing to work in my ’97 honda accord lx
hey man i have 93 celica (4AFE engine) can i replace a 7 mm with a 10 mm
wires?
Can you do a video about changing the valve cover gasket for a 96 honda
accord.
You may want to check the fuse to see if it’s blown and needs to be
replaced. If it’s okay, test the power going to it with a test light or an
ohm meter. If it has power going to it, the unit itself may need to be
replaced. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1999 Toyota corolla here
Yes you could apply this same example to your car.
It may be a similar process. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
When do you stop tightening. At what torque?
I put mines in the wrong spot before watching this lol
yes the spark plug wires do matter on the size, so whatever size of yours
is, please use the same size to avoid future problems ok and thank you for
asking before action…..
1999 Ford Mustang GT. Wish there were more videos for my vehicle but I
understand that you guys can’t have every repair for every vehicle up.
It could if the gaps on the plugs are out of spec.
if you dont change your spark plug will it burn more gas?
thank you 🙂
hi how would you change spark plugs on a 98 mitubishi galant vr4 V6? i can
only find three spark plugs in the front near the radiator but can’t find
the onther 3 and it doesn’t look as easy as hondas and nissans to change
the spark plugs. Thanks!
It’s just the way they decided to design them.
We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this
repair in the future. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I have some mechanical knowledge, meaning I know the basic general stuff.
For a 2005 Sonata v6, in order to get to the spark plugs, I need to remove
the intake, and I am talking about removing about 50 bolts…a 1-2 hour
job. Could you do a video on a sonata?
do you need a magnetic socket for the spark plugs or do the rubber inserted
ones work just as fine for putting them in? mine fall out a lot when
putting them back in. should i push them into the socket a little harder to
secure them while a hand thread them in maybe?
I would worry that you didn’t use a torque wrench to indicate it is not
over tightened.
ahh awesome, well i have the antenna looking magnet in my toolbox, im just
gonna use that to pull them out. Thanks
do one plug a a time and chose the closest length wire. it doesn’t hurt to
use some anti-seize, dialectic grease, and torque wrench at the end.
Mike, you’re the man! I love your car repair videos. They are so much more
helpful than the repair books you can pick up at auto stores. I just
replaced the door handle and headlight bulb on my ’99 Corolla and now I’m
moving on to the spark plugs and wires. God bless you!
@dipzwun They should be in the same place but on the opposite side of the
motor. If you have a Chiltons or a Haynes manual for the car it should show
you in there where they are located. We sell the Haynes manuals on our
website 1aauto.com Hope this helps you out.
They were all pretty easy to get to on this Honda Accord.
@magaan4717 You can just snug them up by hand. They don’t need to be super
tight.
You may be able to apply some of the basics to your application.
