My 97 Acura TL has the engine check light on. When I checked for the code,
it is 1382. I showed it to a couple of places. One place said I should just
get a new distributor cap and rotor and the other place said the code won’t
go away until you replace the entire distributor, which is very expensive.
What should I do? Thank you.

Just wanted to say thank you for making these videos!! I recently bought an
Accord and shortly after started having intermittent stalling. Figured out
it was the distributor causing it and came across this video. I’m 30, a
woman and not car smart at all but I changed my distributor cap and rotor
by myself without bleeding and only one small swearing tantrum!!! Thank
you, you saved me a lot of hassle and money!!!

1A Auto Parts says:

When you take the rotor off there’s usually a dimple of key on the post so
that the rotor only fits on one way.

@612youngg Unfortunately I am not an expert on emissions testing or
legality of parts. From what I know that varies from state to state.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may be able to try the cap and rotor first, that won’t cost you a whole
lot of money to replace. if that doesn’t resolve the problem, than you can
dig deeper if you need to.

Hay i just smoged my 97 honda and i have a intake like the one on this
honda and they told me that it is illgal to take it off and put a stock one

bambieatfood says:

hi sir, is the rotor usually goes one way ? because im afraid i might put
my ignition rotor in different postion.

@612youngg let me guess…you live in california. i live in cali and i have
a ricer friend who doesn’t like to shell out good money for quality parts
so he just buys ebay crap. he’s always being harassed by the cops because
of his no-name intakes and headers and what not. anyways, companies like
injen and AEM have CARB legal intakes and supply you with a CARB Legal
sticker to put on your intake. so if need be and you get pulled over or go
and smog your car, they shouldn’t give you problems

Excellent and very straightforward. I’m going to be doing this for the
first time ever today so this is a big help.
