I own a Honda civic SI 92 D16Z6, Idle goes to 1500 2000 rpm when I drive a
while and brake at the red light. I clean my IACV( a little bit of carbon
on one hole) , clean the throttle body but nothing change really. Do you
think that the FITV could be the problem? Or the IACV is dead maybe

James Dguy says:

It could even be the TPS sensor causing idle issues, I would check Throttle
gasket, Intake manifold gasket, and the Iacv could be bad but i have even
had my COOLANT being low cause it. So hope it helps

James Dguy says:

glad i could help 🙂

Great helpful video, helped with my Honda 🙂

Jorge Perez says:

can I do this also in a Nissan Altima 2002 ?

danwat1234 says:

Hex head screws, not bolts since there aren’t any washers involved.

James Dguy says:

It might but iv never heard of this causing choking issues.. A vaccum leak
COULD cause choke which in a way this would be considered a vaccum leak, I
would start checking ignition timing and stuff like that for your choking
issues, Plug gap, Wires, Cap, rotor, coil, vaccum leaks, Map sensor,
Coolant temp sensor and air idle control valve (almost everything on a
honda motor) Hope it helps..

Thanks again!

very nice and helpful…

Norman Vadillo says:

Would this also solve some choking issues?

What did you clean it with

sandra barwick says:

i have a 94 honda civic lx automatic i just did a motor switch and now i
have the problem of my idle when i start the car of 2000 rpms we have
adjusted the idle and got all new parts for the throttle body like the
iacv, fitv, throttle postion sensor and map senosr my check engine light was
on. i have run to see if any codes come up and they dont i just dont know
what to do anymore.

James Dguy says:

They both serve different purposes the FITV allows for cold starts mainly.
And the iacv is for electric purposes such as.. Power steering, Alternator,
a/c so on. The IACV is controlled by the ecu.. I do understand what u mean
tho. I wish i was alot more simple lol

James Dguy says:

Glad to help when i can. More videos soon!

James Dguy says:

I clean it with SUper clean, Purple power or brake cleaner. IN this video i
ended up using non oil based paint thinner to wipe it down.

James Dguy says:

Phillips head screws/ Hex screws. Thanks for the correction.

danwat1234 says:

Thanks and I found out that 5th gen Civic have a FITV but 6th gen do not,
just a IACV. New drive by wire cars have neither.
