This breakdown is usually AVOIDABLE! By keeping your augers serviced and not using hardware bolts instead of Honda shear pins.

I am going to replace a broken auger gearbox shaft today using some simple tools. It only takes less than 15 minutes after you you removed the augers ( which we have shown on this channel and is fairly easy on any HS624-724-828-928-1132-1332 snowblower )

If you put gearbox in vice it’s easier.
Remove dustcap and in most cases this can be reused.
Remove oil seal with a pick as shown. Be sure to replace with new oil seal because in most cases it is damaged when removed. Here is a good overall pick set i use all the time https://amzn.to/3FIfk1D
Remove C-Clip with some snap ring pliers. pliers here https://amzn.to/4ksJztz
Then punch out old broken shaft and bearing.
Remove bearing, inspect , and clean. It should be okay to reuse.
Install bearing on new gearbox shaft.
Install new shaft into gearbox.
Push in bearing with wood dowel or something similar. Do NOT use metal scrwedriver.
Install C-clip
Install new oil seal
Install dust cap.
Install new 75-90W oil up to bottom of drain plug standing level.
Install cam locks. Be sure to use genuine Honda Boss pins and use a new cotter pin. The old cotter pin is usually weak due to removal and will break easier.

Clean out auger shafts.
Then you can install the augers with teeth facing out. make sure augers spin freely before installing the auger shear pins.
In this video I forgot to show reinstalling the dust cap and draining and installing new gear oil. Figured most people would know this.

To prevent this from happening in the first place , keep your augers serviced. I posted a link to that video at the end of this one. And do NOT use hardware bolts instead of genuine Honda shear pins.
