I showed my buddy this trick and when he went to LA to pick up his gf who was in med school, the starter quit when they stopped for gas on Interstate 5. He crawled under his oldie Explorer, bopped the starter while she held the key and it fired right up. She was amazed because a few years back he was a book worm…but I taught him real manly skills.
If the starter spins but doesn’t extend is it still a bad starter?

Can't do that on todays starters, it breaks the permanent magnet inside and voids getting the core charge back
