How To Change Spark Plug Wires On Honda

It’s been about 100000 miles since I replaced the spark plug wires on my 2000 Honda Civic. I figured it was about time to change them. I am replacing them with NGK wires as I like Japanese…

whats the point of applying the lube on the new wire??

Laura says:

I don’t have any of the grease and I don’t know where to get it…..is it
really necessary?

shyflirt1 says:

I don’t understand your question.

Arcade Mode says:

What is the grease’s purpose? Is it necessary? What is the brand you
recommend?

Manny R says:

when replacing the original spark plug wires to ngk wires do you need to
replace the distributor cap? and also do you need to purchase higher
quality spark plugs since ur going install ngk wires?

shyflirt1 says:

Thanks! I have always liked fixing stuff. I used to work on a couple
Mustangs I had way back when. It’s kind of fun to work on the Honda.

shyflirt1 says:

I have never used a spray version of it. So I don’t know. Read the label to
make sure that it is designed for this application.

shyflirt1 says:

I usually replace the wires at the same time I am replacing the plugs/cap
and rotor. I always buy NGK plugs. I have used platinum tip plugs and
currently have iridium tip plugs. Do you NEED to replace the other things?
No. But the plugs/cap/rotor generally wear out well before the wires do.

ryan butler says:

what do you do if the metal cylinder like part breaks off into the
alternator. how do you remove it?

shyflirt1 says:

What metal cylinder?

GreggyAnt says:

yeah my civic is actually my first car, it has 111k miles. I am not sure if
i should work on it and spend that kind of money. Should I wait for a new
car? or mod my civic a little, and if mod it what do you think I should do?

Jay Hill says:

The Dielectric Tune Up Grease. In Canadian Tire they sell in a spray can
format. So it will work the same as the one yu used in vid?

shyflirt1 says:

It keeps moisture out and helps prevent shorting/arcing. No recommendations
for brand.

shyflirt1 says:

Depends on how much needs to be done. I have been told by a mechanic, that
the newer Honda engines can last to like 500,000 miles. But you got to take
care of them. The wires on cost me $50 online. I have had one Honda that
needed just about everything fixed. That car wasn’t worth putting money
into. But if your Honda is pretty Solid, and only needs a few things, then
it might be worth fixing, as opposed to buying a new car.

Jay Hill says:

The spray can format will work the same?

always always always on a hondas use NGK or Denso spark plugs n wires… I
F’ed up and a while back I got autolite plug wires and I could tell A
difference.. yesterday I went out and bought 4 NGK iriduium spark plugs and
NGK plug wires the same blue ones u have here.. I reset my 99 civic dx ECU
and I can already tell a difference.. it seems like there is a tiny bit
more power or something.. I dont have to press the gas as hard to get same
speed and accel. outa my ride .. good video =)
