It is a good idea to apply thing layer of MP grease to the ball joint taper before installation to prevent it from rusting to the steering knuckle.
The ball joint can be separated by placing the appropriate size ratchet handle between the control arm and steering knuckle boss while arm is in uppermost position then letting the arm go (quick down hydraulic jack can do it). The force of the spring will haveknuckle to push on the ratchet handle and push control arm out of the steering knuckle

Just one question though. Why did you recommend not using a pickle fork and possibly ruining the ball joint on the old arm?

REBeL_TM says:

Great video. I was thinking about changing my arms out soon and I needed this video to motivate me to do it myself rather than paying someone else to do something that’s fairly easy. Thanks!

Is thier video for 98 honda civic for this, my car wheel seem to lean to left not straight any hints i can make it straight,

ahparts says:

That’s if you want to change only the ball joint.

ahparts says:

If the ball joint is on the arm, you need to take it to a shop with a press. Most all Honda ball joints are pressed in.

Hello there! This is a great video. I would like to do the same job in my Jazz, here we call it ike so. One question though, could I just change the ball joint instead of the whole arm. If so, is there a way to do it? Thanks!!! I’ll check you page right, and yes, I’ve already subscribed!!!

ahparts says:

Should be just springs. I would suggest talking to a place that deals with aftermarket stuff.

hey i wanna to lower my honda civic 07
so do i need to change spring or jus the control arms ?
i need hlp?please!!

Jason Worrell says:

i was told I need to replace the compliance bushings and sway bar links

Jason Worrell says:

is the compliance bushings on honda’s apart of the control arm assemblies? and if so would it be better just to replace the control arm instead of trying to replace to bushing itself? I have a 2006 Honda Accord v4 2dr lx automatic
