Thanks for the video. As it happened, I needed to get into the motor to
retrieve the broken end. My antenna is once again functioning as it should-
silently.

John Doe says:

Okay, I followed all you steps…I gave a 1990 Maxima by the way….once I
got to the part were I had someone turn on the radio and I pull the antenna
out, the white tooth cord thing never came out with it and is still stuck
in there because only 1/5 of it is still connected to the antenna…and
there is still a loud grinding noise when I turn the radio on and off, even
with the antenna out…I NEED YOUR HELP!

Hey, i was just wondering if i were to remove the antenna and not replace
it with a new one, would this have some sort of side effect..seeing as
though i don’t actually listen to the radio while driving?

Aspireonthego says:

The antenna on my Integra stays up and won’t retract even with the car
turned off. I can hear the antenna motor make noises when I turn the radio
on or off, like it’s trying to extend or retract the antenna. Would this
probably solve the issue I have? Thanks.

Omania says:

Where did you find a replacement? I’ve been looking for the “teeth” but
haven’t had any luck :/

darkmagician135 says:

very helpful, I figured remove that silver nut, but the feeding technique
helped wonders. also, they sell antenna wrenches (easier than using just a
flathead, and paint safe), I got mine from Northern for $15, but they can
be found online for <$10 on amazon

Takeshi Kinjo says:

i used a wrench to loosen the nut i didnt scratch anything and i found it a
bit easier and safer than the screwdriver

Michael W says:

the piece is called an “antenna mast”, you might be able to buy it from
your dealer, honda does sell replacement masts but other manufacturers only
sell the full assembly, try ebay, they sell masts for all types of cars.

DMBL4KJAK says:

i was wondering if you can do a video of removing an antenna for a 1989
accord dx please?

deltasworder1x says:

does this also work if my antennae broke and is stuck in the fully extended
position? i’m not quite sure if it’s the motor or the mast itself. i hear
the motor running when i turn off the radio. but my antennae doesn’t
retract. what do i do?

Kevin La says:

where did you buy your mast at?

CheekiMnky says:

The teeth facing back of the auto when feeding it… is this STANDARD on
all autos? I need to do Mitsubishi Diamante Is this wonderful video of
yours going to be of assistance to me?

Michael W says:

thanks for watchin!

Frank Walker says:

Thanks! Worked perfectly!

Thanks a lot for the vid.

Thank you so much! This totally helped with my Celica!

multiplecats says:

My problem seems to be the antenna is making grinding noises and won’t go
down all the way. It only just recently started doing this – we had a
REALLY cold and wet winter, and that’s when it started, and it hasn’t gone
back to normal since then. I’m going to go down in a bit and see if I can
pull the antenna up and out this way. I wonder if the teeth on the mast are
just no good? Hoping it’s not the motor. The process to unplug it seems
much more involved… Thanks!

Martin Berend says:

Where did you pick up the new antenna? The car-wash ate mine

Michael W says:

if you hear your motor running but the antenna doesnt move at all, more
than likley the antenna cable (the white toothed cable) has broken off the
antenna mast and is stuck in the motor, if thats the case ,you need to
remove the motor from the car, open it up and get the broken cable out, but
its a little more complicated than it sounds. hope that helps

John Doe says:

I DID ALL OF YOUR STEPS BUT ONCE I HAD pulled the antenna out, the toothed
cord never came out with it and I believe it’s still stuck in the motor,
how can I get it out…or just I just go ahead and feed the new antenna
with the old cord stuck in there?

judson thang says:

hey how do i pull that antena off from my car? i try so many time bu
couldnt do it!!!

lbla50 says:

I have a toyota camry and the antenna extends then makes a loud grinding
noise. Are the teeth on the mast strip causing the noise and I just need to
replace the mast like you did?
