Honda Pilot Rear Shock Install DIY | 2003-2008 | 1st Gen

In this video I cover the process for installing a new set of rear shocks on a 1st Gen Honda Pilot (2003-2008 model year). Installing shocks is potentially dangerous – please be sure to follow the manufacturer instructions specific to your shocks!

Bill Murphy says:

Is there a risk of damaging frame threads if you do not support the control arm? It seems like the weight of the wheel assembly might create a risk of flattening threads during shock removal and installation, sliding the shocks axiallly along the threads.

Where did you get the shocks and struts from? Couldn't see in the "description below". Thanks so much, great videos!

I am picking up a Honda Pilot this week. It's a 2006 4×4 with 154,000 miles for 5k. It's from a family member. How do you tell if your shocks need changing? Great video.

what’s the torque spec?

The rears are rather simple. I used KYB on my 05. However, before I changed the rear springs with the Moog springs, I did run the coil overs on the rear (they are speced for the Odyssey Van) for some rear support. But ultimately changed the springs and it hauled my camping stuff great.

There is a guy on the youtube that does some crazy off-roading with his pilot.
