Thank so much for the video, I successfully finished my 2006 Pilot in 8 hours following your video. Taking off the balancer pulley and putting the new timing belt back on with the dodgy cam gears wear the biggest challenges. I found it easier to put the new timing belt on with the tensioner not yet mounted. That way I had a bit more slack to work with the dodgy cam gears. Thanks for your video, it was very helpful!

Thanks for video, still going to have dealer do the job, but I understand more of what is going to be replaced. My questions 1. why not show the replacement of water pump? 2.Why not replace the engine mount since it is difficult to get to and had to be removed to complete the job? 3. Any parts the dealer may recommend, that aren’t necessary to replace, besides the ones you showed on the video?

VERY expensive, indeed! Just take your time! Good luck!

great video excellent demonstration, makes me feel a lot more confident about doing this myself, just too expensive to let a dealer do it.

The best yet for a Honda timing belt!

What did you use to remove the crank pulley bolt?

Thanks! Good point. A good video on the use of this tool on youtube by DenLorsTools is titled “Auto Repair – Honda Crank Pulley Tool Use”. There is also a simple way of using a breaker bar and the car’s starter, probably on youtube, but try that meathod at your own risk!
This tool is $16.32 on Amazon.com and Prime eligible. It is also available in most auto parts stores and possibly available as a loaner tool.

looking back i wish i had shown both ways. I did it this way because it sort of takes some of the technical aspects out of the job, which in my mind would make it more “user friendly” for those worried about the complexity of the job. I would actually recommend doing it the “old school” way, if your level of understanding would warrant it (or even BOTH, as an added layer of confidence). Also remember the batter hold-down rod to retract the tensioner if you aren’t replaceing it! Good luck!

Best 3.0 Honda V6 Timing belt video I’ve seen so far. Interesting thing with marking the old belt and shortcutting the traditional TDC and cam gear marks on the block and heads. I’m a bit more old school and will be doing it the traditional way. Thanks!
