Hi DW6,
This was the second of your vids that I have found really helpful. My trans
was clicking and not engaging the drive. I removed, stripped and cleaned
the trans. Refilled with new oil and its as good as new. If I can pass on a
tip to others… there are a few washers or shims in there. Just keep an
eye out for them on the ends of the shaft or between gears etc.
I was originally thinking of buying a new trans as thought the internals
would be junk. I was wrong and glad I followed your advice. This trans has
been extremely well used as its an ex town council mower, but it didn’t
have a lot of visible wear inside. These things are built to last. Thanks
to you my mower is running great and now once again thanks to you it drives
great. I owe you a 6 pack!
Cheers : )

Hey, love the different videos.
I do have a question for ya… Picked up a Honda Hr214 SX . The speed lever
will not stay forward into the rabbit speed. User had a bungy cord. What
holds the lever in place for speeds? Is it at the lever or down by the
tranny? Thanks for any info…

I have same lawn mower. My problem is the engine will not cut off when I
pull the lever back to ‘Stop”. Any ideas?

Always nice to see someone keeping an old girl alive.

I don’t have a video on the replacement, but you can get the cable for
about $12 on ebay. Loosen 2 10mm nuts on handle where cable attaches then
remove covers and shield until you see the end of the wire. Finally, insert
the new barrel nut and put back the shields.

What about a broken cable that goes to the transmission? I have a Honda
HR215; a great machine. The other day I was mowing my lawn and the self
propelled cable snapped at the transmission. I pulled out the cable and the
end of it was really fraid. The plastic sheathing easily pulled out of the
trans/clutch mechanism. Do you have a video showing how to replace this?
Thanx!!

doublewide6 says:

When you pull the throttle to the off position the throttle on the engine
trips a micro switch. Find the switch and check that it is functioning.

doublewide6 says:

A whole lot engine switches and sometimes I make cables that fit from other
mowers. It is really hard to do because you can drive a honda trans using a
briggs engine because the Briggs does not have the shaft the runs the trans.

Have you ever built a mower out of different parts from other mowers?

If you ever have a leaking rubber o-ring ie: like around a transmission
seal or cam shaft seal, try some ATP-205 found through amazon. It’s
rejuvenates the drying out casket and seals it back up
