This replacement alone is why I’m trading this car in once I get this
starter replaced.
I say removing the starter was a lot easier than putting it back in. Danm
wires wouldn’t go back to the same position when I install it back in. Also
need another person to help out when putting the two bolt back in. Thank
God I have small hands.
I looked at removing the half shaft, however if you have swivel sockets
available and are able to work with a hoist or pit, the time to re & re
half shaft likely would surpass this. :)
I had remove through wheel well opening and insert new starter through
also. This is the hardest starter I have replaced on any vehicle. Remove
intake manifold bracket to access top bolt and two wires going to starter.
Ensure you have new starter really tight and straight, could damage
flywheel teeth if misaligned or not tight. My arms are scratched up and my
head is sore from hitting it laying underneath car. This is best done on a
car lift or open pit, not just on jack stands like I did it.
I took the passenger side tire off, able to use swivel and two long
extensions 3/8 drive breaker bar in tire wheel well. Took two men pulling
on the top bolt to break free. Then I had to get mad at it take wiring off
the connectors are a pain. Got it done today.
FUUUCK changing that starter out. I tried it after checking this vid out to
find out where it was. It’s one HELL of a battle. Better off paying someone
to do it next time no matter the price
