Dealer Quotes $7,000…for THIS?! ('20 Honda Odyssey: Airbag SRS PROBLEM B0091-B0093)

This 2020 Honda Odyssey ended up at a local shop after the Honda Dealer Quoted the owner over SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to repair some minor rodent wiring damage that was causing the AIRBAG light to illuminate.

The shop repaired two wires, but the code was still present!
B0091-87 No Signal From The Left Side Impact Sensor (First)
Then they started swapping and replacing impact sensors to no avail…

Let’s start from scratch and figure out what exactly is wrong with this Honda Odyssey.
Will we be able to make it right with NO PARTS REQUIRED?

Thanks Ivan.

Like I always say, "I've got a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong" 😉 Also, I've had trouble with several brands of scanners over the yrs, when used on Honda products. Some of them just brick, some refuse to communicate at all. Can't explain it.

Ivan, you can quote the customer only half the price from the stealer sh..t for swaping 2 wires, i think they still happy with that

@Hodgepodge-h3n says:

so the Sensors polarity have to be correct

It's really disappointing that dealer technicians have so little technical skills. And the way the service departments are structured, they're all about selling. Thankfully you, and others, are out there to dig in an actually find the problem. Keep up the great work.

7 grand for 2 crossed wires…. Insane!

@FrankWhite-z3b says:

Man, i respect your skill and knowledge, but a soldered tinned to tinned connection with no mechanical twist on a SRS harness makes me cringe. A frickin butt connector would be more sound straight from rubber freight.

I was under the impression that any safety systems could not have wiring joints. We retired some f150’s because of liability issues with broken wire joints in the door jam area causing air bag faults in the doors. I thought federal law required oem wiring only. Or a Honda approved repair solution. You may be good Ivan but when we dealt with this ford did not have an approved solution that met industry safety standards. I googled the issue and they do now. May want to research airbag repair liability. Just lookin out for you. Enjoy all of your repair videos and your technical abilities. Creating a in cylinder pressure transducer was it for me.

we dont want to fix the car. give them an astronomical price
