Not supposed to let caliper hang by brake hose.
Changing lower control arm only one side is I would say not good coz the bushing is cracked I think changing on both sides will be great . On acceleration stability of vehicle you might loose it and not safe .
He would have paid an extra 30-40$ more for a strut assembly on rockauto

Just a tip for you don’t need to remove the axle you can do it without removing anything I did it on my tsx and it pretty much the same thing

At the dealer we lightly air hammer the axle out with a large pointed bit
