Thanks for the great and to-the-point video! I’ll be fixing this Saturday.
I bought a soldering iron for $3 at Harbor Freight. The dealer quoted me
several hundred dollars when I had my car in there for the engine block
replacement. I said, “Um, no, I’ll take care of that.”

benitoflammeboy says:

How do you replace the rear deck back I tried many times but there’s still
one clip in the back that does not want to clip. Do you guys have a tips to
put it back correctly ?

Scott Binder says:

This worked great. Make sure you use a solder sucker. The hardest part is
putting the rear deck back on correctly

W4ZV says:

Thanks for a great suggestion! It’s surprising Honda apparently has
vehicles manufactured over several years with these cold solder joints
waiting to fail. I was lucky to be following my wife in her 4.5 year old
2009 Civic when I noticed the upper brake was not working. When we got home
I had her pump the brakes and noticed the light would momentarily
momentarily flicker on but then went out. Thanks to you for saving us a
large service bill!

DRMartinWizard says:

Oh, and this is after they tried to sell me new tires even though I had
already replaced the ones that came with it with very good quality 100,000
mile tires less than 10,000 miles before. I think when the computer told
them it was time to replace them they just assumed I still had the original
tires on it and didn’t bother to look. But I like my tires to be in really
good shape so I replaced them before I really needed to. I kind of freaked
when they told me I had to replace them already! 🙂

DRMartinWizard says:

That looks fairly simple. My Honda dealer wanted something like $250 to
replace the circuit board but it couldn’t really be the circuit board if
it’s intermittent, could it?

Dave Honig says:

Your video continues to help people! Just repaired the third brake light on
my civic.

wdherbert says:

Great video. Dealers should be ashamed.

Men thanks!!!!!!

Edward Fernandez says:

Just found out at inspection that my LED brake lite is out.Can you tell me
the steps and tools that I need.Would I be able to do this sodering from
the trunk?without removing the panel unit. The shop wants 400 dollars to
replace it.

05jmattyred says:

Spent $170 dollors to have the light rplace at a honda dealer. the light
assembly and bulbs were over $100

Kyle Schick says:

Followed the directions and had the led light assembly out in 15 minutes. I
touched up the solder on the 3 locations as shown and reinstalled and it
works perfectly. The hardest part of the repair is getting the rear dash
fit back and snapped in correctly. The Honda Dealer quoted me a price of
$287 for the repair. The OEM part online was about $60 and it took me as a
novice about 45 minutes total so how they can charge almost $300 is absurd.
The light works great for FREE.

Nice vid. i had a friend resold it for me. save me a ton of money!!!

qdiggity87 says:

Hell yeah man thanks for that!! just saved me 183.00

TheSmithinator says:

I think my 12” subs rattled mine apart. At Step Ten, on the left side, i
placed a piece of wire between the green board and the plastic to keep it
from shaking, i hit it a few times and shook it, we’re clear for take off.

The Rev. Jeff Donnelly says:

I just found this video this morning, went out and bought a soldering iron
for $23, and already fixed it. THANK YOU!!!!
