good tip..this car has no abs tho

Kamran Khan says:

One thing you have to be careful about is ABS sensor. which is not shown in
video. Disconnect connector from behind cover.

I had my civic in the shop a few days ago to get oil and filters changed
and they did “complimentary” tire/brake inspection. Dude said driver side
lower ball joint was ready to pop… I was under the car today checking the
ball joints and I see nothing wrong with them. The joint is firmly in place
, cotter pin still intact, rubber boot still intact , no unusual driving
complaints outside my brakes are grabbing because of a passenger side
caliper that is not working so its only catch the driver brake. What
should I be looking for on the lower ball joint other than what I
mentioned.. he said it was ready to “pop” its in place and looks normal to
me

fupabox says:

thanks..glad it helped 🙂

How long did it take you? Looking by how easy that impact did the job, u
could have saved some time and hammered it out, i usually do does joints in
less than hour, and when they get tough bout 1 and a half

fupabox says:

I did have it filmed but the video cacked out so I had to edit it out..used
an impact driver

ragerian1 says:

Nice rims…i got the gsr blades on mine

Nancy0986 says:

Thankyou so much 🙂

fupabox says:

only if they are loose or clunky…the tie rods are easy enough to do at
any time,on the other hand they are cheap and since you are already down
there with everything apart..why not.. 🙂

Very good video, this is the way everyone should make them. Thanks, you
helped me alot.

iWantToFuNK says:

Looks pretty straight forward, thanks for the tutorial.

fupabox says:

not necessarily..if one is bad though ,it’s a good bet the other side is
getting near its end as well…but no you don’t have to do both

fupabox says:

Connor says thank you…he likes the GSR blades as well..so do I, bet they
look good on your car 🙂

Nancy0986 says:

Can you tell me Where you bougth the ball join please, thanks.

The1spaner says:

Nice job… 5 minutes longer would have been OK…I wanted to see you
fiddle with those rotor mounting screws, heh, heh… 🙂

ragerian1 says:

U have any other vids on the em2/es2

crazyglassguy says:

Thanks Alot Man, great video, very helpful!!

fupabox says:

best to rent one..I think autozone lends them for free…you would need a
massive c clamp and it would cost as much as the bearing press

fupabox says:

if you mean the wheel studs that the lug nuts bolt onto ..no I don’t. If
you need to replace one on the rear, remove the drum and tap the old stud
out with a hammer…on the front you need to remove the whole front
hub, caliper, rotor and wheel bearing.then press them out

Tony Jackson says:

Do u have to change both?

fupabox says:

good luck on it.. 🙂

good video

Hulkklogan says:

Great video. I need to replace the lower ball joints on my 2002 LX and this
video was very straightforward and instructional. I should be able to knock
this out now no problem!

I’m loving your channel. It’s awesome that you took the time out to post
such a wide variety of vids on different makes/models. I’ll thumbs up all
of them.

fupabox says:

actually there was no noise coming from them although they had too much
play in them when checked..usually they will make a clunking noise as you
are describing when they are bad..check your sway bar end links as
well..they can make a clunking sound also..possibly tie rod ends but very
unlikely

fupabox says:

no problem…glad to help..good luck on the repair 🙂

oscar martinez says:

Would u replace the tie rod as well?

fupabox says:

I used the pitman arm puller to put pressure on the lower ball joint and
the pickle fork to pop it out of the lower control arm…you can use a ball
joint separator as well…I did see another guy do it on youtube by jacking
the suspension up on one side and placing a large socket between the lower
control arm and the spindle..when he released the jack pressure on the
suspension the ball joint just popped out of the LCA ..looked like a very
easy way of doing it

fupabox says:

I think it was around 1 1/2 hours per side with the calipers, rotors, and
ball joints
