I go over how to replace and install a new set of rear shocks on a 2000-2006 chevy GMC tahoe, Yukon, and suburbans without air ride. Air ride is similar but has an electrical and a air connection per shock. Easy Repair!

If I'm wrong please let me know!
From the looks of it, your Tahoe had the ZW7 Option (Premium Smooth Ride Suspension). Did you have to change out your springs as well? Has it affected the ride height and comfort at all? The ZW7 shocks cost $300-500 each and everything I've heard says you can't use the shocks you did. Again, if I'm wrong please let me know. I just don't want to take a chance with my Yukon. I've got 302k mile on my ride and she's still going strong! But, if you haven't noticed any major changes or anything, I may try it.
Thank you for making the video and hope to hear back. Take care of yourself.
I was quoted a year or so ago by Wheel Works that it would cost $900 to fix my back air (?) shocks! ……i could not afford that then….. kinda Still can't. 🙁
Hey!!! I have a Black Beauty 2000 Tahoe just like that one!!! ;)~ The Bessst car I ever owned!!! <3
Could you please do a video for the front shocks on a 2004 GMC Yukon 1500 slt. I like your rear shock video better than any of the others. You explain and show all steps so even a senior woman can understand the process. Obviously I am not a mechanic but need to have good shocks on my older 2004 Yukon. Harbor Freight rocks actually for a lot of miscellaneous items. Thank you so much.
great video..ok how many miles did you have on your Tahoe? Also why not change the springs?
Same setup on my 05 Tahoe great video thanks. Will be replacing mine today
was your stock ones hard to decompress..??
This video is great.
i got ac delco shocks on amazon for $20 each
great video…was looking to see how to get the bolts out. got them soaking with wd40 now…
haven't replaced my shocks in 10 years 05 yukon xl i think they just finally gave out on the passenger side it's making a squeaky chirping noise
Good video…and your right not to many videos on changing rear shocks on a Yukon or Tahoe …
you funny dude! thank you
Thanks brother. I appreciate the video
Thanks it helped.
Who can not like this guy.. Keep making videos.
Thanks for the video. Helping a friend with a 2007 Chevy Tahoe 4WD. I saw another video saying that Tahoe's use a special leveling shock and need to replace the springs as well. Any idea if that's accurate? Wasn't sure if it would be as simple as replacing the shocks or if it would be more in depth. Thanks!
thank u I did myself
Great video thanks…
Thanks for the video! I have an 02 Tahoe and 4 new shocks ready to go in. I saw the little mistake you made around the 3 minute mark. I was yelling as loud as I could, but you did not hear me! lol at least you were able to compress it. I did subscribe once you mentioned the gunsmith stuff. Can't wait to check it out! thanks
Also the Gabriel Ultras work good. The ride is great. I had KYB on them prior & for the money I don't notice a difference. I have a Sierra also & I used KYB on it for years. Honestly for the buck they go bad too fast. In a couple years my truck was sagging in back. I went with Monroe coil overs & I love em. Gabriel is a good choice for the buck.
Easy just like he said it would be. Only correction unless an 03 is different than an 99 Tahoe. The right socket & combo wrench is a 21mm. 13/16 has slack in it on my truck. 21 fits exact to a tee no slack.
That ratchet is good. I have one from Harbor Freight early days. They don't carry the same one any longer. I sure would have brought another. I'm going to do my shocks myself. Thought I would need a lift. Thanks for the video!
Can the bolt for the upper mount be put back in turned around?
are there struts on a 02 tahoe??
super video
great video i needed it!
We're you happy with these versus OEM AC Delco Sachs shocks. 50 bucks is much cheaper than $300 but we're they comparable ride wise?
