How To Replace Interior Door Handle On A Chevrolet or GMC Truck 95-99

Here is how to replace the interior door handle on a GMC or Chevrolet truck. If your interior door handle on your GMC or Chevrolet truck it’s broken, follow these instructions to remove and replace it.
1. 0:36 Roll down the window
2. 0:40 Pry the trim piece off of the interior door handle.
3. 1:06 Remove 2 bolts in the armrest.
4. 1:12 Pry out the electric door and window control panel and disconnect the wires.
5. 7:48 Pry the light out of the door panel and disconnect it and remove the triangular top trim panel near the mirror.
6. 1:55 Insert a slim object underneath the door panel and pry it away from the door. Continue praying around the door until you’ve pulled all of the plastic connectors loose.
7. 2:25 Lift the door panel up to remove it from the truck.
8. 2:45 Remove the small screws and one large bolt that hold the metal interior door panel onto the door, and rock it forward so that you can see down into it from the top. You don’t need to remove it.
9. 3:10 Pop the control rods for the lock and doorhandle out of their channels, and then pop the ends of them out of the interior door handle mechanism.
10. 3:36 Drill out the rivet that holds the Chevrolet or GMC truck interior door handle mechanism on the door panel and remove the interior door handle from the truck by sliding it forward.
11. 4:03 Remove the clear plastic from the back of the interior door handle mechanism, and put it on the back of the new Chevrolet or GMC truck interior door handle mechanism.
12. 4:39 Slide the new GM interior door mechanism into the door panel and then slide it to the left to lock it in place.
13. 4:46 Install the control rods onto the new Chevrolet or GMC truck interior door handle and snap them into their channels.
14. 5:20 Try the lock button and also try using the interior door handle and make sure that you can lock and unlock the door and that you can open and close it.
15. 5:34 Rivet the interior door handle mechanism in place, or if you don’t have a rivet gun, you can use a bolt and a nut, but make sure you use thread locker so it stays on.
16. 5:53 Inspect the door trim panel to make sure that none of the connectors broke, and install new connectors as needed.
17. 6:01 Hang the top of the interior door panel over the top of the door, and then line up all of the plastic trim connectors with their holes and press it into place.
18. 6:55 Install the top triangular door trim piece.
19. 7:06 Pull all of the electrical connectors through the holes, and connect them back to all of the appropriate controls.
20. 7:30 Snap the trim piece that goes over the interior door handle mechanism into place.
21. 7:42 Install the two screws in the armrest on the door.

You do no have to remove the steel door panel. Drill out the rivet . Take the lock and door rods loose. Put it back together.. Done!!!

Gmc put that plastic around the handle,,I don't think that plastic will ovoid any water from getting wet,
