Does this also apply to HD models with durimaxx?
@ 10:45 I bent my C clamp trying to make it go back in. What now? Thanks
So is the vibration packets help from kinda like skipping to a stop? I have 99 GMC Sierra and if I’m going like 50 or faster my brakes like to skip
Good job seemed kind of ghetto but ok.
Absolutely disagree with your choice of grease. You need to use appropriate lube. Vasiline melts at skin temp, what do you think will happen when the brakes are used? White lithium is not much better. If the pads do not come with grease, buy some. Do not cheap out on brakes.
Thanks, this was a helpful prep for gearing up to change our '09 Yukon brakes.
Love the end
Video helps a lot ….u make it look easy
I dont have kids, i really want them though. I thought about essentially doing the same type of format, but like im explaining it to my kids. Thanks for being a good neighbor, and showing us all how.
Do you need to torque the bolts down to a specific set amount, or just go by feel?
Going to try my first break job on my truck next week! Will watch this video a few times haha. Expect some questions lol!
great video and well explained through out the process
I'm all out of vaseline. Can I use Warming KY Jelly?
Excellent educational video about brakes on Tahoes
A regular guy with regular tools doing a great job. THANKS SIR. – good vid.
Do yourself a favor and put anti seize on the caliper to slide pin bolts and the pad bracket bolts. In your environment you'll be happy you did it next time you do brakes.
great video as always i like to watch your videos i think your a great person and a good family man but here is my one comment and hope it doesn't come a cross as negative there is enough of that in the world right now your comment about buying all of your parts on amazon what about the young man that just got a job at the local auto parts store that lives in your community. you want people to buy local Christmas trees
Great use of a cheater bar. You are becoming more of a farmer everyday. Email me your address to Farley_dtd@hotmail.com and I will get you out some Loctite. Knowing a glue guy has to have some perks.
One very important thing that you left out you need to pump the brakes before putting it in gear of you can run into something before hou get the brakes on never hit anything but scared myself shen i got in a hurry
It's a shame that the factory doesn't put some anti-seize on those pins when first installed, it would save a lot of unnecessary work and uneven brake pad wear. They probably don't because of cost and also helps the dealers get brake work. Nice job and video !
So my take is, the glide pins were so dry that the outside pad was not involved for quite some time in the braking since the carriage didn't move. The inside pad did all the work because it was engaged by the dual pistion, thus the total anialation of it 🙂 Glad to see you got them before a failure occurred. I really don't like rust :-))
It's great to learn about cars parts. I wish I can some of that stuff. Not very good with them.
First break job I ever did was on my 1976 Chevy Chevet back in early 80's
