Thank you for saving us from the high cost of repairs from dealers and
such, guys like you are heroes.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to see if the regulator is damaged and needs to be replaced.

I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado with manual windows. Driver’s side window
does not roll up, although I can sort of force it up. Any advice on
resolving the issue?

ray ray says:

Good vid but the sound is waaay too low

Logan Carr says:

I just changed my front right on a 2003 Sierra. Couldn’t have done it
without this video. Thanks so much!

Bill FromUSA says:

Just changed out my rght side front motor and reg. and it took me way too
long but your video was instrumental to my success. Thank you very much.
Bill from Memphis.

Jo Ann Hamm says:

Thank you very much for posting this video about how not to do it as well
as the one about how to do it… although I took both approaches (sigh) you
saved me a lot of grief nonetheless. Hope you guys are getting lots of
business as a result of this effort — if I do need to buy something I’ll
come your way.

jimpeoples1 says:

How long should it take to replace the window on the passenger side front
of a 1994 Astro van? Thanks

1A Auto Parts says:

@digitalmixer Yes basically the same, might be a couple differences when
removing the door panel but again basically the same.

sparkplug1100 says:

Hi I have a 2001 chevy Silverado and i have a question. My passenger side
window is stuck in the up position. When I try to press the switch to make
it go down (from drivers side and passenger side) I can hear something
click and thats all it will do, keep in mind the drivers side window still
works. I have watched this video and the window regulator video. But im not
really sure which one it is. If you could tell me which one you think it is
I will buy the parts from you and put it in myself.

1A Auto Parts says:

Sometimes there is a safety clip to make sure it the connection does not
come a part. The clip needs to be pulled out for the connection to be
released. This sounds like the case on the window motor connection.

Gary Seymour says:

This how to video was excellant, found it very helpful( Note; I have a 1999
GMC SIERRA and there is some minor diffences concerning fastener locations
on the door panel) Anyway removal and installation of the power window
motor and regulator took me 35 minutes. Such Youtube howto video’s are
better that the factory shop manuals published by GM that I have.

Bobby Bouche says:

I have a question, I have a 2002 Silverado with manual windows. If i bought
a new motor and that bracket would it all bolt in like a factory one then
just buy a door panel with the switch for power windows?

Eric Aigner says:

I am having an issue with just getting the window free from it. What
happened was my window is going down but now will only come up about 2
inches and stops. Not making squeeking noises just stops. so the window is
still below in the door. How do I get it to release so I can tape it up and
pull the regulator and motor out?

swan734 says:

the cable broke on my 2002 chevy silverado

bschilli94 says:

How is that water/dust cover kept on?

1A Auto Parts says:

@sparkplug1100 You may want to take the door panel off to see if the window
regulator has let go. We sell the window motors and window regulators on
our website. Here’s a link to the 1500 Silverado section.

Joe Monaghan says:

Just want to echo everybody else’s comments here. I diid the first window
in 50min and the second one in 30min start to finish. Wouldn’t have even
looked at it without this video. Thanks for sharing this expertise, from
one tradesman to another.

Bobby Bouche says:

@1aauto im pretty good at wiring but that would work?

1A Auto Parts says:

The 85 is a scissor style where the 99 and up is a cable driven regulator.

1A Auto Parts says:

@1985k20silverado You can install power windows in to a truck with manual
windows. You would need to put in the motors and mechanisms and run the
wiring. The basic idea is simple but wiring and all that is more
complicated.

1A Auto Parts says:

@Stix080803 Here’s a link to the window regulators for a 2000 GMC Sierra on
our website. Hope this helps.

Travis Miller says:

Thank you so much … this really helped me out!

John Dyck says:

I have a 2002 sierra and the driver’s side window goes up VERY slowly no
matter what season it is and the passenger side is fine, any ideas?

1A Auto Parts says:

@jimpeoples1 It might take about an hour or so.

Braden Holmes says:

Would this b the same for a 2003 chevy s10

1A Auto Parts says:

Usually there’s a jute type rope that seals it on there. You could always
tape it back into place too.

1A Auto Parts says:

It could be very dry weaterstrip. You could spray it with a little silicon
spray.

1A Auto Parts says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular
repair.

1A Auto Parts says:

HI John, You could try a little trick. If you go to your local auto parts
store and purchase some silicone spray, spray the weatherstrip all around
the window, that will help the window to glide easier. You could also take
the door panel off and place a little white lithium grease in the window
regulator track. If these two things do not solve your problem, then the
window motor may just be getting tired. We carry new ones with free
shipping on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

RudeZmaster says:

I have a 2007 chevy silverado crew cab. When ever i roll the window up it
screeches but the window isnt getting scratched. Could it be the motor?

1A Auto Parts says:

Check out the video response by us (1aauto)

Justin Searles says:

Excellent post thank you for your help. I used you’re advise to replace the
regulator on my ’03 sierra denali. everything was going well until i went
to get the replacement part from my gmc dealer. Apparently the regulator
has changed . Now the bottom two attachment points are studs that accept a
10 mm nut. The nut of course doesn’t come with the replacement part so I
had to return to the dealer to get the two nuts that were missing.

1A Auto Parts says:

Normally there should be no squealing going on with the regulator after
installing a new one. If it is, most likely one of the one of the rollers
is not properly lubricated or the wire is catching causing it to bind up
and make a noise. You could try spraying the wheels with lithium grease and
see if that solves your issue.

1A Auto Parts says:

@najemokd Thanks for the heads up, don’t have one of those trucks right now
but I’ll see if I can get a hold of one.

J Yarbro says:

This vid is very helpful

A1Zealot says:

thanks man very informative…its great to have a resource like all the
1aauto tutorials and there easier to follow than a chilton or haynes manual

1A Auto Parts says:

You’re welcome! Let us know if there are any other installations you would
like to see.

1A Auto Parts says:

You’re welcome. Have a great day!

najemokd says:

I would like to see one of your videos that covers the replacement of the
power window motor on a 2004 Chevy Colordado. Any plans for this? There
seems to be a rash of these motors failing all of a sudden.

1A Auto Parts says:

@Tobago12594 Thank you for watching. We carry a great deal of repair parts
for your Chevy Siverado on our website 1aauto.com

Nick Lehmkuhl says:

My dealership wanted $400 to do this job! I bought the part for $100,
brought the laptop right out to the truck with me and went through it step
by step. I never would have attempted this without the video. The window
works perfectly and you can’t tell the door panel was removed. AWESOME!!!
thank you.

1A Auto Parts says:

@HunterLaw1981 Check your battery and battery cable connections. Make sure
they are not corroded.

1A Auto Parts says:

It would be different because the S-10 is the smaller chassis and the
Sierra is the full size truck.

Glock19Girl says:

THANK YOU 1aauto for ALL your wonderful videos! I’m not sure if it was just
my laptop but the sound in your video started out loud & clear but ended up
so low that we couldn’t hear what he was saying. So we just watched what he
was doing and didn’t hear the part about holding on to the wheel! LOL…
That said, we ended up watching your “What NOT to do when replacing a power
window motor” and my daughter & I got it done! THANK YOU again, as you
helped 2 females save a lot of time & money!! =)

1A Auto Parts says:

@Spank529 Process will be similar, you will probably have to unbolt the
regulator so you can move the window in to a position where you can get at
the bolts that hold the reg to the window.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may need to take the door panel off and push the window up and into
place be hand.

Spank529 says:

i have a 2000 pontiac sunfire….the window is 2 inches down from the top
and is stuck it wont roll up or down (automatic) now my question is will
the process of fixing the motor be some what similar to the impala video
because i really dont have a lot of money and id rather learn to do it
myself..from watchin the vids it doesnt look complicated but i wanna be
100%…please help when u have time
