Hey guys, love the vids and the help they have provided for a lot of us
DIYSers out there. I’ve got a 2000 Chevy S10 that I’m doing some minor
repairs on. The tailgate cables that are on my truck aren’t connected
directly to the tailgate with bolts but have this assembly that is
connected with a couple of torx screws. Any ideas or help? I haven’t taken
it off yet to explore but it is coming down to that pretty soon.

@oscarisdaman15 It should be a similar process, if it isn’t exactly the
same. Hope this helps.

This was beautiful – first search on Google, right to how to do it. Thanks
guys – and the link to the product was a nice touch … however it did link
to a Chevy only product (even though I am almost positive it’s the same
thing) …

oscar ortega says:

is the same procedure applicable to the 1997 chevy s10?

OK, so I did attempt to take the assembly off to inspect the cable
attachment. The assembly is secured by two 40 torx screws but the assembly
is also connected to the latching system to keep the tailgate closed so it
cannot be easily removed. Help!!!
