HEAT it if all else fails been there done that. BUT do not heat the pitman arm on the on steering Gear box shaft u will ruin the seals in the gear box. only heat on the center link.
If it’s frozen on there you could try some PB Blaster. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My pitman arm is stuck on the center link.. How else can i get it off?? I used pickle fork & hammer.. Also jaw puller.. It wont budge
Thanks for the video going to work on my 1996 GMC K1500 , pitman arm , first time I do this
You may want to check the steering components while someone turns the steering wheel to see if you can physically see it hitting anything. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I have a 1999 chevy Tahoe 4door 4wd, It for some reason it turns really good to the right but it turns maybe half way to the left, I am kinda worried about it, I hope you maybe help me figure out what is going on thank you
The steps are really the same. The steering really didn’t change at all between the 98 and the 2001. Also the positioning of everything is similar.
How hard is this on a 2001 surburban 4×4 ?
You might have a bad blower motor resistor. you may want to take a look at it. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My a/c only works if I drive forward. It used to work but when I would put it on speeds 4 and 5 it would shut off. I hope this is the problem
You should be able to make this repair just as shown in the video. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
do u have to remove the gear box? or can you leave it in and work from there?
I will agree about the IR guns. Had to buy one today. Worth EVERY penny.
thank you for having this video i have really bad loose steering wheel and its always to drive my truck
thank you… and very helpful videos.
You may want to check the wheel bearings to see if there’s any play in them. It may also be worn control arms or possibly to much camber on the alignment. You may want to look at the suspension pieces that you haven’t replaced yet for worn bushings.
Also have a 99 blazer. Just had all new ball joints and bushings and shocks installed and 6 months down the road i now have wear on the outside edge of the passenger side tire with exposed steelbelt in the tire. It drives straight and the tires appear to be straight. Any suggestions
For my 95 tahoe i don’t see any play in the linkage or anywhere else but there is slack in the steering. Could it possibly be in the steering box?
Thank you for checking us out. Have a great day!
Nice video.Saved me a lot of guessing on my ’92 Suburban. Its not as easy when using hydraulic jack/jack stands and laying on the ground looking up,but I saved some $cash$ none the less. And learned a lot. Thanks
Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel.
thanx that was very help full ur videos always help
Thanks for the video.
Great Video Bud,
Thanks. I think the problem is my hose diameter. I believe it is 1/4 inch, and maybe too long. The impact is a 1/2 inch Craftsman, and the output seemed weaker than the specs of the gun suggest.
I use a 3/8 hose and a blue-point 1/2 inch drive impact gun. It will basically destroy anything I want. However – I have heard that upgrading to a 1/2 inch hose makes a big difference in power. Also, the new Ingersoll Rand composite impact guns are really the bees knees. I would love to have one, but it’s tough to justify when you already have a working impact gun. They are lighter, quieter, and have enough power to tear the biggest bolts in half! 🙂

Suggestions on compressor size and hose? My 1/2 inch impact didn’t work nearly as nice as the one in your video.
i’m learning and saving a lot of money with this videos thanks a lot man
This video was a life saver. Diff or trans case, everyones a critic…inmaterial. It saved me so much time, giving me the sizes of fasteners. I waste most of my time searching for the right tools. With both Metric and SAE it is more of a guess and time waster. Thanks again.
Great info thank you. Yes I believe I did misspeak on the lug nut size.
great video. i did this on my old 97 a few years ago and it was a pain. antoher mistake you made at 1:04 you said you need a 19mm to remove the wheel. i know for a fact that 88-98 1/2,2/4 and 1 ton 4x4s used 22mm lugnuts and 99-2011 1/2,3/4,1 ton 2wd and 4×4 use 22mm lugnuts. and that 96 tahoe you are doing it on has rims from like an 07+, so the stud holes are definaly for the bigger stud.
Yes you would be right. My bad, brain and mouth disconnect.
Thank you VERY much for posting these tutorials… Saving my life! But, isnt that the front differential that he is pointing to in the beginning, and not the transfer case?
