To all the Mechanics and people responsible for making these videos. I
would like to, whole heartedly, thank you for making the time and effort
for making these easy to follow videos. I own a 2004 GMC Envoy with a 4.2L
and have said alot of time and money by watching these videos. You guys are
the best. These videos are a gold mine for those “Shade Tree Mechanics”
such as myself who like to fix what we can on our own. Thank you and keep
up the great work!

Please Tell Me What Else Can Be The Problem To Keep My Heat From Not
Blowing ???

Great Video. Thanks. How long should the serpentine belt last? I have an 06
GMC Envoy and I just got the serpentine belt replaced just under 3 years
ago…I went to get an oil change today and the manager told me I needed a
new serpentine belt.

P Salazar says:

THanks. Do you know if the 06 GMC Envoy has regular problems with the idler
pulley. I think that’s what is making a whine/grinding noise when
accelerating…not the belts. Or could that noise be the alternator?

1A Auto Parts says:

@MrFlirt29 You may want to check the fuse, to see if it’s good. If the fuse
is fine, when you turn the heat on you may want to check the plug that goes
to the blower motor resistor with a test light. If all this works fine, and
the heat turns on but isn’t warm, you could also have an air pocket in the
cooling system. You may want to check the level of your radiator fluid too.

1A Auto Parts says:

A whining noise could be coming from all three of those parts (belt, ider,
or alternator). You can normally have someone bench test the alternator to
see if that is the issue. The belt would be the easiest to replace and then
the tensioner as well as the idler should be done at the same time.

1A Auto Parts says:

You should inspect them every 10,000 miles for cracks. If there are visible
cracks on the ribbed part, it’s a good indication that it should be
replaced. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Another great informative video, thank you!

4.2L is a 256 c.i.

Thanks bud! Is the tension bolt in the same place on the 2005 Blazer. It’s
squeeky at start up but once it warms up, the squeek goes away.

What is the actual engine size of a 4.2 litre engine, i.e. in cubic inches.?
