This is the 5th time I have used one of your video’s and they are great. I just replaced my handle on a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 4×4. The only difference was I had one more plug for the electric lock and mine didn’t have the window stop for some reason. It works great and sure beats climbing in from the passengers side for the last 5 days! Thanks again for the video’s!

i really appreciate any tips, thanks for the input, and happy wrenching

1aauto says:

You may want to test the draw on the battery to see what’s causing this. You may want to take a look at the door jamb switch to see if it could possibly be bad.

i have a 2002 GMC SIERRA 1500, there is a beeping like the key is still in the ignition when the door is open (but it is not) the lights and everything is OFF, does anyone know what is wrong,??? so i dont keep going through batteries PLEASE HELP

1aauto says:

Yes if the handle was damaged while someone was trying to break in, this would be a good video for you.

Saul Vicente says:

can this be applied to a door handle that was broken into

1aauto says:

The video is the exact same steps for the 2004 as shown on the 2002. The only reason you would have to do anything with the window regulator is if it is broken as well and in the down position. The window needs to be completely up to access the bolts inside the panel.

Jake Handrahan says:

wats the difference between this 02 sierra and an 04. Will i have to mess around with the window/track or can i access the exterior door handle after i pop off the door panel. Also if i do have to mess around with the window how do i do that, it’s not very well explained in the video, and how would I rehang the window regulator.

shig357 says:

If you have skinny enough wrists you don’t have to worry about the window, just slide you hand back there with a 10mm crescent wrench.

Unfortunately we do not have a video on the 2008 Sierra’s at this time.

How would i removed the door handle from a 2008 gmc sierra four door manual windows

Great video. Saved me so much time and aggravation. Thanks for making it simple!

Robert Buhler says:

Awsome video it took only 20min to put my handle in.

We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this particular repair.

TOXIXIFY says:

Hey, Thanks for making this video! Can you possible make a video on how to replace a door lock actuator motor in a 99-06 Sierra/Silverado? Mine is broke and there are no good videos on how to replace it. Thanks a ton!

Very helpful video, thanks! 3:57 My truck didn’t have that bolt so I just skipped that step. I never had to take the window regulator rail off either. If the glue on the water shield is not sticky super glue works great.

Jimmy Gaston says:

Helpful video but just wanted to comment on one step. I was able to R&R the upper right (10mm) handle nut without messing with the window regulator. I own a set of SK short metric offset box end wrenches. Major tool makers offer similar wrenches. I went in through the large, lower hole and was able to just get the wrench on it. Must be offset and shorter than standard wrenches to access the nut and turn it. Saved a good deal of time and risk breaking the window glass by taking it loose.

Buba Loui says:

Well, what a pain in the ass, but it’s done. My 03 is no different than this 02. I did kind of chane 6-7 steps. I took the 2 easy bolts out, and snapped the handle off the 3rd bolt, this made it much easier to get to. I then installed the new handle. First the 2 easy Cus free and pain free bolts. On the 3rd one I was able to get my hand up behind the window, there I hand tightened the nut. I then, with much pain pushed my hand back up in there with a 1/4″ drive and socket, a couple of turns

Mike Duval says:

You can do this without doing anything to the window or window lift bolts. Only one bolt was hard to get to..used an open end wrench to loosen and removed by hand…significantly easier and faster than what is shown here. Otherwise a helpful video. Thanks

Very helpful vid man…Thanks

Just wanted to send a big THANKS for making and posting this vid. I have the Haynes Repair Manual, but I never would’ve been able to do this repair without your video. I had already purchase the handle assembly from my local dealer by the time I saw this, but I will definitely be giving you some business in the future as a “thank you”.
