Hi,I have a 2006 Cadillac SRX that has a clicking sound everytime I select
the air to blow to the feet or the A/C is OFF and goes away when blows to
the face.Could it be the actuator?
It might, you may also want to check to see if there are any loose or
disconnected vacuum lines under the dash or in the engine compartment that
may be causing this issue. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My 05 silverado blows cold air on the driver side and heat on the passenger
side when the heat is on. I replaced the blend door above the accelerator
but it didn’t change anything. Would changing this blend door help?
If it’s the actuator that acting up and causing the issue, then replacing
it should solve the problem that you’re having. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
i have an 05′ silverado and no hot air comes from the vents, it used to
take a long time to cut in but now doesnt cut in at all… if i replace the
actuator like in this video would it fix the problem?? if so about how much
does one of these cost? thanks
Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Awesome video – would not even tried it without viewing this video. Took me
over an hour; I’m certainly no mechanic. But, it works!! Thank you! thank
you! I used Dorman 604-101 for my 1999/2000 GMC Sierra 5.3 liter – fits
perfectly.
It could be the same issue as the one shown in this video. 1aauto.com

I have a 2005 Silverado SS model and I only have heat at 90 degrees once
and 89 or lower I have no heat. And also the a/c is ice cold at any temp
other than 90 not that I set it on 90 but just saying below 90 it ice cold.
Is this part in the video the part that fixes this? I read somewhere on
line though still havent found it but they said the sensor was in the top
of the drivers side door in the over hang roof. But again I havent found
the part there? Thanks.
another great video, THANK YOU.
Awesome video man, thanks.
I did this repair and it worked great. Thanks !. My 99 Silverado was only
blowing cold air when I turned the temp dial to hot. Just a side note to
check and see if it was actually the actuator that was broken I did this..
When the old actuator was off, I turned the truck on , turned the temp dial
to hot, then manually turned the shaft that the actuator is connected to
and the heat worked.
You may also want to check under the dash and also under the hood to see if
there are any broken vacuum lines that may also be causing the issue.
can you show a video on how to do the one for the drivers side where you
remove the instrument panel to get at it. since its the upper one
Is this witht eh digital controls only? my 2002 silverados heat only works
sometimes. Its either kinda warm or really hot like normal. I tried
replacing the thermostat and filled the coolant resivor. I was thinking
either heater core is part clogged(wouldn’t explain intermittent heat
though) or the air duct door isnt switching all the way from cold to hot. I
can switch it back and fourth from hot to cold and it changes it just
doesn’t get really hot.
If you have lost some of the speed settings on the heat, that usually
happens when a blower motor resistor goes bad. Hope this helps you out.

It could be, if the system runs on vacuum, you may want to check the vacuum
lines for a leak to see if that’s causing it.
There are several different actuators on the HVAC house. There is one for
the temp and then one for the vents. On some vehicles there are ones for
the each side you would have a set of 4 altogether in that case.
Thanks for the advice. You don’t happen to have a video “How To” on that do
you? 🙂 I’ve found some other videos showing how to do that, so I’ll give
it a shot. Thanks!
That is correct that connection plugs into the resistor. You will have to
cut and splice the connection into the existing wiring.
You might want to try some of the Silverado truck forums for a reset
procedure. They are normally the best source for that type of DIY info.
@boobies1989 It may be the blower motor resistor that could be acting up on
you. You may want to check it to see if it’s working correctly. Hope this
helps.
At the current moment I do not. We’ll keep this in mind during any future
repairs where we may need to make this repair.
Thanks for the response. This make s sense.Do you know the procedure to do
a vehicle reset for my Chevy 2004 HD Silverado Ext cab pick up. Thanks
We currently do not have a video that shows that bparticular repair.
It may be in the same location, you could start by following the video
first to see if GM put it in the same location on your Yukon.
Hi Jim, You may want to make sure that there aren’t any air pockets in the
system, or for the heck of it flush the heater core out with a garden hose.
Remove the two radiator hoses in the engine compartment and work the hose
back and forth between the two outlets. There may be some debris clogging
up the fins in the core.
My suburban only blows heated air when the gauge is turned all the way to
the right. It seems like replacing this part would fix that issue. Do you
agree?
If I were to want to add a rear defrost window, to my Silverado. Would I
have to get a new unit, such as this in order to control the rear defrost
and mirror defrost from the heater control unit. If not, I have heard that
I may have to get the control unit reprogrammed by the dealer before adding
such units to my vehicle. Would I have to do so is my question?
I have a 2004 Silverado. It has dual climate control for both driver and
passenger. The driver side works fine. But no matter what the passenger
side is set at all it does is blow hot air on the passenger side. Would
this be the air temperature actuator or the control switch itself?
hello, i have a 99 Silverado, the compressor works fine and there is freon
in the system. but it only blows hot hot air every time. now when i turn on
the ac i here a loud boom noise from where the actuator is located, could
that be the problem for why it does not blow cold air also
Some vehicles have a reset procedure when you remove the battery to bring
back certain features in the vehicles (mirrors, abs, air bag light,
ignition switch). This could be a case where you need to do a vehicle reset
to get it to work correctly.
Its possible but you would need the auto A/C housing as well as all of the
wiring to go along with it. It is something that is extremely extensive and
not worth it overall.
You could test the power going to the actuator with a test light or an ohm
meter to see if there’s power going to it. If there is, then it might be a
bad actuator. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Would this also be if the air only blows out of the defrost vents?
You may want to try to pinpoint where that noise is coming from so that you
can see if it’s causing the issue. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
does this work for 2005 suburban?
It could be, you may want to take a look at it to see if it’s working right.
You have an issue with the vent door actuator or the door. You will want to
go into the glove box area and check and see exactly what the issue is by
taking off the actuator and see if the door is operating correctly.
I have a 2005 Suburban LT with dual climate control. The drivers side will
periodically blow hot air, then go cold again. Would the actuator on the
drivers side be bad or could it possibly be a door that is sticking?
