How To Fix Rusty Cab Corners! The Heartwarming Journey Of A Neglected 1948 GMC

How To Fix Rusty Cab Corners! The Heartwarming Journey Of A Neglected 1948 GMC

Hey we are back on the 1948 GMC pickup rust repair. This time I will be replacing the cab corner. Although the video is about 1947-1954 Chevy or Gmc trucks, the process is largely the same for welding cab corners on any make or model of truck from any era including modern trucks. Aftermarket cab corners, when available, will always have some fitment issues, but they are often better than starting with nothing and can be manipulated to produce an acceptable repair.

Working on projects by yourself tends to suck, at least the camera is a pretend friend. I do enjoy your work and am learning more. I have always focused on the mechanical side, and now trying the bodywork side.

Dennis Hill says:

From my experience working on older vehicles I swear that assembly men were issued two tools: a hammer and a crowbar. So much for those who say they don't build them like they used to.

mopar pollack says:

Could you have used the shrinker to make the panel fit better?

LUCKYLARRY says:

I can see spot welding along that seam a little bit at a time would definitely keep the metal from warping as you finish welding. great content and great instructional video as well.

Ralph Millais says:

Have you seen the views cat vids get? You should forget this metalwork foolishness!

Driveway Shop (Hazen W) says:

Excellent video. I'm sure the cats would give you 2 thumbs up if they could even though Poe claimed it was a yawner. Silly kitty.
Gonna have to share this with the Rusty Beauties channel and Facebook group.
Also, thanks for mentioning the ads. I didn't know you could control where they land in videos.

Just4 Guitar says:

Great vid, again! Simple straight forward explanations (less rambling than you think) and some instruction. I like the newer production “values” you’re incorporating….. overdubs are great for Timelapse! If it allows more productivity on the project, it allows for more content on the channel.
Glad you’re scrapin’ a buck out of it… with the way the likes rarely reflect views.

B G says:

Will the new windshield be a clear seam up the middle or will you use the metal divider strip like it has now?

jackie may says:

anthony wright says:

Eric Hutchins says:

M L. says:

I would prefer a cat that does body work while ranting.

Jimmy, Making it work says:

Ahhh, the Cut and Butt…nice work. Coming along nicely!
Funny about coddling, seems like one way or the other someone needs it.

antiqueradionut says:
