How to fix a +2014 Chevy/GMC Intellilink Black Screen!

Here is a quick guide on how to fix the stupid black/blank screen on these intellilink head units! Dealerships charge hundreds to diagnose and fix these, so hopefully this helps you out and save some money! This was a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500LT I was fixing at work 🙂 The process should be the same on any of the Chevy or GMC trucks!

What if the screen is completely dead? It's not even on to where you hear it click and choose an app. And the info screen on your speedo says audio off

I have a 2017 chevy silverado 1500 and I don't have that setup in my truck….

Rudy Yarbrough says:

That will work for a while but the problem is the wiring harness. The blue plug is molded onto the harness and will go into the blue port only one way. To get it into the port you have to put an enormous twisting moment on the plug to get it in. After it is in, the twisting moment is still on the plastic plug and as time goes by the rotational force will deform the port. This is just a bad design that GM will not fix and after your warranty runs out, it is $1200 because they replace both the screen and the HMI module even though both of them are still good but have a bad $2 plug. I have ordered a short data cable that will plug into and onto the old wire and I have read that this will permanently fix this BS. I'll let you all know when the new wire comes in.

Neal Suggs says:

Tried this and worked a day or so. Tried the battery cable deal. also worked awhile. Finally rebooted the computer and it's working for over A WEEK . Fingers crolssed.

2017 chevy volt, same issue! Thank you gonna check connections.

Ronald Wilson says:

Went To Dealer for Service They Said Needed A New Cabin Air Filter. I Said Ok! Replaced Filter And Headed Home Noticed Nav. Screen Was Out! Called Dealer. And Told Them Maybe They Pulled A Wire. And They Said There Is Issues With Screens On GMC's. Make Appointment To Have A Look At. Thats When I Found This Video, Thank. God! I See That New Screen Cost $437.00 Just For Screen. Without Labor. Thaks A Million!
