This is the Dorman kit I used: https://amzn.to/3j0m7bH
SURR makes similar products.
What’s wrong with rubber fuel line?
Give me a rubber gas line and two hose clamps any day.
10:43 wet spot under the next plastic mount point in the line on left side of screen
you made that look easy. thank's for the video Wes
Don't forget to re-order the used parts…
You can use 3/8 rubber fuel line entire length from tank to front with rated pressure fuel line .
I have to change a Kodiak all lines .
Not sure if you tried but lines to go is a good place for fuel and brake lines.
I was fortunate when I had my 2001 and was able to get the entire manifold assembly from the GM dealer but was a pain to install in my garage on jack stands
I replaced them when the fuel pump crapped out back in 2010 if I remember correctly
I have the entire pre bent stainless brake like kit from Dorman that I never installed if anyone is interested in it, just taking up space in my garage
Will fit 2001 Chevrolet / GMC half ton long bed trucks with 4WD
Even easier cheaper and faster 3/8 high pressure fuel line 4 high pressure clamps and push on 2 inches each side did mine 5 years ago and still fixed and working perfectly fine cost me $12 to fix and no expensive tools and still easy to fix if it fails later
Be careful with gasoline. Don't end up like Jay Leno, or worse.
Great vid, but annoyed that I did not get a notification from YT for this video…
Didn’t smell too bad.
I find it a lot easier to emery cloth the line before I cut it. Nice Dorman kit.
Don't know…..Doesn't Matter…..good line…..LOL
I just bought the dorman braided lines patching just turned into the snowball effect and more leaks
Feeling a little gassy are ya? Try Lemon juice and a little vinegar, helps YOUR HANDS.
Ive used the clamp and hose method for some time….and now thanks for planting that terror in my head. Truth be told, when I did the fuel lines on both my Continentals, that was over 10 years ago, and didnt have the flare tool and whatnot, though I do like the plastic hose. Looks more original than the hose (though I think from the factory they were doing that in the early 70s).
That kit is nice. Like the molded trays
The misery never ends, lol. "just filled my glove with gas". "Best to do these jobs in the morning so you can smell gas all day". Sighs and deep breaths. It's fun to watch others annoyances. I guess that's why I watch.
Normally it’s the brake lines rusted off and leaking on those rigs.
Thank you for doing "simpler repairs " as well. Those things are just as important as some of the complicated items you have repaired recently. Also I'm glad you mentioned other more risky ways to accomplish the same task. Fantastic was the mentioning of a possible result of completing the task "sketchily" may result in a FIREBALL. Some people never realize that doing a sub par task may have very negative results. Can't wait to see more videos !!
A smear of grease on those brass threads seems to stop that galling when you tighten those compression fittings.
Speaking of questionable fuel line repairs, turns out you can find push fit connector's that will fit onto a snapped nylon fuel line. Worked great for the 2 months it took me to sort it correctly that said I wouldn't do it with petrol, this was a diesel. I should have just bought that dorman repair kit tho, would have cheaper than a factory replacement fuel line.
