Cobra CB radio in 2021 GMC Sierra idea — brainstorming how to install

I really miss having an old school trucker’s CB radio in my truck. I kept this Cobra 75 WX ST compact CB radio from two trucks ago (10 years ago). I am looking at places to put the control module and a external speaker…just brainstorming ideas. What are your thoughts?

Hitting the “thumbs down” is actually good for my viewership…but, if you really don’t like a video, don’t watch it. Why not just grow a pair and actually leave an comment if your butt hurts? Better yet, create your own content and see how that goes for ya. Biblical quotes/preaching/condescending or sanctimonious remarks…not allowed here. Lastly, this is my backyard/channel…like it or leave it. There are no “bad” videos out there (you can actually learn a lot from others who do things differently or are learning). So, have FUN while your here, learn something, and make the world a better place.

I got a 21 as well I'm thinking of mounting my cb on the roof inside the cab don't wanna drill but seems fairly easy to do without nicking factory wires

My daily 79 f150 has the President Bill, my 98 XJ has the CMX760. Cool thing about the 760 is that there is just the tiny box to hide, then like your cobra, just the mic to hang. done. These are wired to direct power, no key needed of course. Would be daft to require a key for coms. Both of these have the HAM antenna also, for for the bayyyyoFeng…

I know you've dropped another video on this and I'm going to watch it in a bit, but I would guess there's a way to tie communications into the existing system.

Speaker location: Rear seat between headrests. Get 1 inch by xx flat bar stock 4 feet long, trim to fit and paint. Drill holes for headrests. Attach speakers to bar stock and route wires behind and under seat. Works great.

Keep radio close.
Handheld would be nest.
Yes, either store it in glovebox (harder to reach to) or center console.
Speaker, passenger side center console or above rear view mirror if you got room

sparkplug94 says:

Did ya not wanna port CB feedback into factory radio either through usb or auxiliary? Or do you just kinda let CB audio go in background, while your listening to music? I would check center console more closely, or look up parts diagrams for stuff in that area. (Show a breakdown of what’s there) My 14 has a lot of dead space under the area where your charger is. Enough where aftermarket was selling a way to mod it for a lockbox.

Do you ever dx? If you do what's your number?

For current traffic situations, I use the Waze app… It will show you where smoky is too… The static or skip noise and having to turn my squelch so high that I could not hear anything further than a few miles kept me from reinstalling my cb years ago… Just set yourself free and go without… You might miss it for a while…but you get used to not having one… My 2 cents… Probably not you wanted…
