When working on taking out the rotor set screw I found that once you screw it out a ways to go behind the rotor and spray blaster on the piece of screw you see . Work it back and forth with a little more blaster if still too tight. I wil free up and not break on the way out if you are patient. Clean up the rust before putting the rotor back on. Grease the hub before reinstalling.
Followed this tutorial to a T and my ebp motor popped and the casing separated. Looks like I need a new motor. Be careful with this. Looks like best option is to get a scanner or take it to a shop
Do yourselves a favor and just buy a TopScan OBD tool to put it in EPB Service Mode. Not trying to blow up the King here, but that manual method isn't as easy as he makes it seem. Easy when the caliper is pre-prepped for the video, but not reality!! I have a 2020 Terrain Denali. One of those motor screws is seriously blocked by the hard brake line attached to caliper. So unless you have a 6-inch long T30 bit to squeeze in there you are NOT getting that one screw out with just an ordinary bit and a tiny ignition wrench….impossible. I couldn't even get the easy one out. Those screws are torqued in there with locktite.
Also, there are a bunch of youtubes and articles about using brake and EPB button in different combinations to put system in service mode. They do NOT work on my 2020 Denali. This has been a big pain in the ass.
Get the Topscan Lite tool on Amazon and forget all this butchering. Got it on sale for $53 and its capabilities are substantial.
Great video. I would suggest pentrating oil on the torx bolts and a impact on the rotor torx bolt.
There is a TSB on this. PIT5953. The brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir must be at 1/2 or lower to allow sufficient space for the fluid to return to the reservoir when the rear caliper is pushed back in. If you don't heed this warning you might end up damaging the electronic brake control module. If you damage the EBCM it will be a costly mistake!
I pre the piston buck with my hands. You can do it it is not so hard. No tool needed ( of course you need 1st to release the Electronic Parking brake to be able to do that
