12:40 lol! Classic!!
What an epic. It’s like the Ben Hur of repair videos. 🙂
Will someone please watch my video and advise me on how I can fix my car! Thanks!!!!!
Hello Eric,
You are the best!!!!
Job well done sir
Everytime i watch his videos, makes me feel i wanna be a mechanic when i grow up. <3
How do you keep so calm?
G’day Eric found the Sonoma videos a great help, it seems to me that you have the patients of a saint! Look forward to the next install. Kind regards Johnno
Eric the car guy makes me want to be a mechanic.
39:19 moments like that remind me of why I like being subbed to Eric.
nice job man thanks for teach im chevy and s10 and sonoma guy just love the videos thanks
I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 mint condition. When I pass on to heaven I want you to take care of my truck. Ryan is proud of the hard work you put into his truck. Thank you for the lessons.
Nothing wrong with dexcool in a closed cooling system!! GM had all kinds of problems with dexcool used in an open cooling system!!
Great series, Eric. I learned so much from watching them, even though I don’t have a truck. The fundamentals (and patience) you teach carries over to any vehicle. Thanks!
oi
green stuff in a 2000 year car
i dont know haha but i heard good things but i will try it
haha i use it in my 94 Z haha so i will try this green in my 2000 blazer see if it lasts longer and doesnt damage the new gaskets i replaces on it
😛
the end
:p
The first thing I’m gonna do is throw all these throttle body bolts on the floor lmfao!!!
Eric, I ran outta room before, but I just wanted to agree with brainsmobile1, he said it well —– after watching all your vids and seeing your approach on this one as he put it, that’s a class act — sure wish there was more in the world like you, not just as mechanics but also as human beings – I was laid off due to outsourcing, now health etc cant work and watching your vids really makes me feel at home, spent most of my early years laying on cardboard, never did get a garage–lol
Been watching your vids and this series, im 54 today and used to do a lot of this kinds of work since Voc. Tech – youre an excellent mechanic and an awesome human being for donating the fee — I used to work a lot like you, methodically etc. — I was reeally feellin for ya there when you thought the head was leaking, if ya do this long enough odds are this kind of thing will rear it head, ya really had a good break there. I had my S10 chemical flushed and changed to glycol too at dealers advice
Great finisher Eric – and a really admirable thing to do at the end.
Very nice from Eric to stain the seat with his sweaty dirty t-shirt…
Where did you get that cool funnel for the radiator ?
green coolant all the way…never use dexcool, that stuff is poison for an engine.
Thanks Eric. This video series taught me a lot about an engine swap that I’m considering for my Toyota pickup when the time comes – made me feel like it’s something I could handle. I’m sure Ryan, his family, Reflections of Grace and many other viewers all appreciate this project as well. You ARE the man!
oi
i did to my 2000 blazer only head gasket haha but took me 2 months because i did it after work till like 11 or so haha
in the cold so you were lucky to have a garage hehe
but mine wasnt to hard just some hard places to reach but got the job done and it runs stronge and alot of power annnnd…. whats better dexcool or green stuff
i flushed it and running on water need coolent in winter
whats better for all gm gaskets dont wanna do it again haha
the end
🙂
huge thumbs up man. I am a cancer serviver, when i was 25 i was diagnosed with stage one bladder cancer. I was luck enough that they caught it soon but i still went through 4 different surgeries to get it all. I donate when i can to cancer charities and every 3 to 4 years i donate hair to locks of love. Keep up the excellent videos man.
What a horrible intake design, good job GM. 😛
Great video Eric! Spent a whole day watching the series. Much easier to get serpentine belt back on if the last pulley you slip it over is not a grooved pulley. Especially if the belt is new and a little short.
I’m sure Ryan would be happy to see his truck running again….and since you mention you were doing this pretty much for nothing….your character sir…speaks the world about you. You sir…have my respect
don’t you think the RPM a bit too high??? shouldn’t be around 600 to 700???
in general Eric does not seem to snug up the fasteners, thats why the truck at the end of the video had a leak ,
Awesome job, I watched all parts and I must say that truck is cherry after u worked on it! I really like how u address a lot of issues most techs would overlook or not waste time on. Wrench on my man!
he said in the video, an over heat…
I have the same exact battery charger. And is still running strong. Has never net let down!!!
“Great Job” followed from start to finish 🙂 It’s always good when you get that result!!
Hello Eric, I watched the entire Sonoma series and I think highly of you for donating your payment from Ryan’s parents to reflections of grace. It takes allot of Love to do what you did my man. Take Care!
Ok, I forgot that it was a timing chain inside.
What you believe is the timing belt is not the timing belt, it is an accessory drive belt for the alternator, power steering, water pump and various other things. The timing system for this vehicle is not exposed on the front of the engine.
Bonjour from France, Eric ! I think I miss something. Turning the crankshaft without the timing belt isn’t dangerous for the valves if you don’t align the camshaft ?
Looks normal to me. A warm engine at idle will have lower oil pressure than one operating at high RPMs or a cold engine.
Don’t know the exact oil pressure spec for the 2.2 but as long as it’s out of the red (which it is) I wouldn’t worry.
