Help! I removed the 2 screws holding the tailgate opener, but I’ve pulled and pulled on the plastic cover to try and make space to reach down, I can not even separate 1/2″. How much force did you have to use before you were able to insert the drink bottle?

It worked for my 96 jimmy. The only thing I had to do different was the little lever you was pushing on. I couldn’t get mine to break loose, so underneath it I saw a little lever that I thought was connected to it, of course its hard to see when your trying to do it. So I took a flat blade screwdriver and pushed that little lever to the left and it popped right open. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
i have a 1997 s 10 blazer 4 wd, how can i get the back glass to pop open, i here it click, but will not pop open? i went to the book and saw were to go to do it manually and i did that and it still clicks but will not pop open, i am ready to brake it out and start from there!

Thanks-Mine broke last fall when we were using the tail gate to haul firewood on I think it may have twisted the gate.Next I will see how to get the glass open the right way or if it’s the gate as well.
