Daniel Lee says:

Take a look at the freeze plug while you’re down there. It’s very common
for it to leak there first.

VetteDaddy says:

Good video! I noticed the pulley was cracked, did you end up replacing it?

Red Robot says:

Could you upload one of doing a gen 1 steering pump? Mine is leaking bad
and whining so it is time to switch it out

Rob Heesterman says:

is it ok to use a power steering pump with two lines when the original had
3 lines, the original one extra had one for the brakes …with a T type
splitter for the return lines. I did and the pump works but wines at hig rmp

JoJo Me says:

Great Video thanks! Got mine done but leaking fluid at the high pressure
connection on the pump. Maybe I tightened it TOO much and compromised the o
ring seal?? How tight should it be, is there a torque spec?

BUBBA BELL says:

how did you drain the fluid? i noticed the cap was off the whole time

Autotechviewpoint says:

I usually just have a drain pan underneath and let it all fall out. We do
have a device that will suck out fluids, but have not gotten in the habit
of using it all the time.

Jawbreaker1222 says:

About how long does it take to change out the pump? Ive been putting mine
off for to long as I use the truck daily even with the bad pump. But really
needs to be done. Have full set of tools air and manual other then the
puller. Dose the pulley come off easily or should I expect a battle?

Autotechviewpoint says:

My honest answer is to cut off the line close to the pump fitting and use a
socket, then of course buy a new high pressure hose.

Autotechviewpoint says:

Well maybe some day, I can say I use Snap on and Mac tools because of the
convenience of them stopping by every week with tool trucks. Haven’t had
quality issues (too much) Good quality tools really make a difference when
dealing with nuts and bolts (brake and fuel lines) that are resistant to
coming loose. Lower quality, say a line wrench, that is supposed to be a 16
millimeter, may fit loosely compared to a high quality wrench. Poor quality
may strip things you are trying to loosen.

Autotechviewpoint says:

They are not too hard to do, good Saturday job.

BUBBA BELL says:

how hard is it to do an intake gasket on this year truck?

Autotechviewpoint says:

could be, but best to try to get it back into shape. make sure you try to
just start all bolts before tightening, that may help.

Nick Guertin says:

Helped me get mine put in my 1990 chevy blazer! Thanks so much. I’m just
having a hard time getting the new one back in!

Autotechviewpoint says:

Anything is possible, I do know that it is normal for them to have a little
freeplay. You could use a long screwdriver or pipe and put it on the pump
and put your ear to it and see if the noise is coming from the P/S pump. (
Poor mans stethoscope. )

Autotechviewpoint says:

Maybe damaged the O-ring. I looked it up and saw no torque spec. Maybe try
to tighten a little more, and/or take it apart and try to replace the
O-ring again.

Connor Arbogast says:

would a bad pump make a clacking and ticking noise and have play in the
pully

Ryan Lange says:

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! This video was a great help.

Michael Stupak says:

I’ve got a 1994 blazer, and was able to do this without taking the pulley
out lol it wasn’t easy!

Autotechviewpoint says:

You should be able to do it in a couple hours with the right tools. With a
good P/S pulley remover and installer tool, it USUALLY comes off and goes
on just fine.

Autotechviewpoint says:

I would always recommend using the recommended replacement part. Did your
old one whine? or was it leaking?

Autotechviewpoint says:

well it is better then. Did it get any better over time? If it bothers you,
the whine, then best guess is to get the right pump.

E Ross says:

I got the pump in place but I can’t get the metal bracket fit back on. I
may have bent them while trying to get the pump out my suburban. Will it be
ok with out?

Joe Castillo says:

great video well very detailed, like, will be using the same steps for my
truck this weekend.

Rob Heesterman says:

no power steering was not working so when we changed the motor with a used
one it came with a ps pump, so i used it with the added t fitting instead
of changing the pump reservoir that had 3.

Michael Stupak says:

I was replacing the pressure hose.

DanielLaird Laird says:

yeah, I finally got smart and disconected the other end of the hose. then I
put the pump in a vise and as able to get it off. but I will probably have
to buy a new one anyways. thanks.

DanielLaird Laird says:

so got my pump out on my 91 suburban, but i cant get the high presure hosse
off the back. it’s locked on tight. I’m using a 5/8 in wrench but it just
won’t budge, put wd-40 on it, used a pipe to incease leverage, and nothing.
any advise to get that bolt to break loose?

jason cassidy says:

Hey I was wondering if you could do a video of your toolbox and tools? It
would be nice to hear why you choose various brands of tools. Thank you.

mark curtis says:
