second you should get 350 ACmV if its any less you have a bad sensor.

i would check the sensor you haven’t checked yet. likely some gunk on the
end of it OR the corrosion on the hub surface where the sensor bolts to has
enough corrosion it moved the sensor away from the ring by a few
thousandths of an inch. I think I had the meter on AC. can’t remember now –
2 years ago LoL.

Barely broken wires that have increased resistance could cause the issue.
However, I can’t stress strongly enough the importance of cleaning the hub
surface… I used sandpaper taking it down to clean metal to get all the
rust off. I would find out how to check resistance of the sensor & its
wires, all the way from the ABS module (or computer – wherever the wires
go). If one sensor reads much higher resistance than the other, then the
sensor with the higher resistance could have broken wires.

thanks a lot! i took some pics i could send if i had a place to send them..
but how did u get 350mV? it is DC right? i got 200 but was spinning it so
fast i wouldve been out of breath if i did it much longer! i guess
regardless, i just bought a set of two on ebay for 40 bucks. i figure its
worth 40 to have fresh ones and only need to take it apart once. mine were
behind that brake plate thing so it was more of a pain.

It has been a while since I made the video and did the repair. However,
200mV sounds not too bad. I don’t think having dirt on the sensor would be
detectable by a volt meter. you likely would need an oscilloscope to look
at the wave form. I would suggest 1) checking the other sensor for
dirt/metal and 2) measure sensor resistance by unplugging from the abs
module to confirm no broken wires. Let us know what you find. good luck

quick question for ya….. i just did this in my 98 tahoe… i only did one
wheel and the problem is persisting… i want to figure out if i need new
sensors before i bother cleaning the other…. the one i cleaned wasnt
really dirty. the sensor had some goop on it that i cleaned but no rust. i
also sanded under it even though it wasnt that bad. i got 1042 ohms, but
could only get 200 mV when i spun the wheel, and i was spinning it as fast
as i could… any help? thanks!

thank you again. i checked the other. it was similar to the first side. i
cleaned it all up including the hub surface. its definately better, but
still not correct. i installed a new sensor but it was too long and
contacted the splines inside the hub. i will have to get the correct ones
and install them. i guess im assuming i need new sensors…. could there be
any other causes of the issue?

Pulled sensors behind rotors, cleaned metal surfaces, plug hole to keep
dirt out. Used air to blow out dirt in hub assy. reattached sensors problem
gone.

you know, this is covered under a recall, right. all you have to do is take
it to your dealer, doesn’t matter how old the vehicle is. All are covered
since around ’99.
